Behind you... Naked!
Being slightly off similar topics, I fancied an update.
But an update that can also be a review / Warning to others too, so not wanting to get too silly, I was looking through my own kit and seeing what bit of hardware has been a total sham, and of the same type, what has been a great purchase.

For example, I think that my most painful mouse, must be my saitek 3200 and the best mouse by far, has to go to my Logiteck G5, so thats my 2p

WORST = saitek 3200
Gets jittery to buggery and now its seems to be permanent
BEST = Logiteck G5
Its the Galaxy Chocolate of mice. Like the G9 but more natural feel

And I will also take the chance to add my keyboards too!

BEST = Cherry Cybord
Feels so good, types a charm, and is very responsive

WORST = Microsoft Reclusa
Backlight gets to your head after a while, keys feel swampy and cruddy, spacebar often hit & miss for fast typing

They will do for now... I just fancied knowing anyone elses views like this

Couldn't you of put this in the Hardware sub?

I use a Logitech MX518 and it's a brilliant bit mouse :)

Best: EVGA 8800GT - Not a single problem. Ever.

Worst: Any ATI BS - Always have problems with their ****. I became a Nvidia fanboy when my last couple of ATI cards were crashing every 5 mins.

I recently decided to buy a 4890 because it was so cheap, as an upgrade from the 8800GT. It still crashes every 5 mins on some games :(

I gave ATI several chances, but they are just so unreliable. After I upgrade the 4890, I will never ever get another ATI again, no matter how enticing the price : performance ratio is.

Best: Quite possibly my E2140 - it was stupendously cheap, performed well and overclocked by about 80%. Excellent piece of hardware.

Worst: Ohh choices. I mean generally I make a point of buying good hardware. I suppose I could list a Foxconn P35 motherboard that turned up DOA, but that'd be a matter of chance more than anything else. Or my old AF7 which quite literally fell apart on me whilst I was trying to install it for maybe the third time.

Oh wait I know what to choose. Those crappy old keyboards that had a well positioned 'power' button in between the delete and return keys. Just WHY?!

Worst: some 3 quid dell roler ball mouse.

Best: Mx revolution feels so comfy and the free spinging wheel + google button are amazing once you get used to them.

Feels weird with a normal mouse now :(

Do you do that thing where you spin the scroll wheel, put your nail lightly against the front to make that screeching noise for as long as possible? Or is it just me?!

Best - Either my i7, Astro A40s or my TJ07. Both have blown me away, but for different reasons.

Worst - I try to avoid buying bad stuff, but if I had to pick, it'd be some of the crappy Belkin network gear I've had, never worked properly, and I learnt my lesson.

best: Logitech MX laser mice
worst: what they have at work.

best: MS natural ergonomic 4000
worst: what they have at work.

best: wacom tablets
worst: aiptek tablets

best: the chairs they have at work.
worst: the chair I had at home till about 5 minutes ago when it shattered beneath me.
I am typing sat on the floor.

Laptops:
best: IBM ThinkPad laptop's
worst: any laptop that's not a ThnkPad.

Mice:
best: Logitech MX518. seriously, i've had it for more than 5 years and it still works like it did the day i bought it.
worst: Microsoft wireless mice. honestly, the mouse-lag on these things was shocking.

best computer hardware - my old gainward 4870x2 miss the hell out of its awesome gaming power :(

worst computer hardware - windows vista (i know its software for the pedants)

best computer peripheral - my windows wireless bluetrack mouse, would track smoothly on broken glass if it had to

worst computer peripheral - my hp colour laserjet printer purely because it costs £20 for each of the 4 laser toner cartridges it runs through at lightning speed.

best general hardware - my iphone 3gs, great for work and the apps make it very handy.

worst general hardware - my samsung 37" lcd tv, sound quality has deteriorated so much ive plugged pc speakers into the headphone slot to make it sound half decent.

Your bad luck is utterly ridiculous or, PEBKBAC.

Best: 8800GTX longest life graphics card I can remember, it took 2 years or so for them to come up with something substantially better. As far as all time best hardware goes, this wins by miles.

Close second: DFI NF4 Lanparty Extreme, man this board was awesome in the days where 3GHz was really a difficult target.

Worst: PhysX cards, they were overpriced and useless originally, now its nvidia owned graphics cards will process it!

Close second Killer Nic, not for its performance as it actually is a decent product, it just fails due to its silly price.

I think the hardware purchase that made the biggest difference to me was going from a 17" hanns.g LCD panel to a 22" Widescreen Samsung SM226BW. What an improvement! Sadly, I'm looking at replacing that again now with a Dell 2209WA.

Worst hardware purchase - Tied between buying an E6750 instead of a Q6600 and an 8800GTS 320 instead of an 8800GTX. CPU has been a bottleneck since I changed the GFX card, and the GTS320 was dead in the water when I upgraded my monitor (above).

Does PS3 count as hardware? :o

Best would likely be my trusty old 8800GT, astounded at how well it plays even the newest games at high settings :)

Hmm.

Best: Samsung T220 - 22" of flatscreen when before there was 17" of CRT? SO MUCH MOAR DESKSPACE FOR CRAP, WAHEY!

Worst: Some Trust tablet. Used it once, decided I must have been off my flippin head to buy it and I've been too embarassed to take it back again.

Best - Samsung Syncmaster 223BW
Worst - Thermaltake Toughpower PSU - 1st was noisy, 2nd (replacement) went pop inside a week.

Best: DGM 'Digimate' 24" LCD, PVA panel, I got it from OcUK when they were on special offer, there's a huge thread in monitors about them, I bought two of them in the end, same panel as was/is in the high end Dell/Samsungs/BenQ's for about £250.

I would have said my 9800 pro as it was my first high-end card (playing Ut2k4 and Unreal 2 on it with max settings = instant pant happy time) but it gave me problems at boot-up sometimes.

Worse: Nvidia FX5200. Fail.
