We have been having 6 people party's each night and since yesterdays patch its been nearly impossible to get a game going without the party leaders game crashing or people in the party getting booted out.

I added you, but we have finished for the night now.

Have to admit to being very disappointed in this one.

Not interested in the slightest in MP though I respect the views of those who are having issues with it.

No, for me it's the SP game which is starting to suck. I mean it's the same old flaws as all the other COD's. Currently stuck on the Brazil level at medium difficulty, the bit where you have to chase the guy onto the rooftops. Managed to get through the yard with the shacks (after about two dozen re-loads) but now stuck where you climb up the ladder. Primary weapon empty so having to use shotgun, surrounded 360 deg by enemies no matter how I play it end up getting killed. Not helped by the poor health "spatter" effect making it impossible to see what's happening. And as usual with all the COD's (including Wolfenstein) if you take cover to try and make a progressive ranged attack it just spams grenades. If you retreat to look for weapons/ammo the enemies respawn.

Oh and no save facility other than checkpoints. So frustrating to finally make a bit of progress, then get killed round the next corner and get set right back.

I'm not sure what modern military fighting doctrine is, but I doubt a lone soldier running the gauntlet of 30+ guerillas with no support is part of it.

I'm not *that* bad at FPS games, Fallout 3, Quake, Doom etc. but IMHO the COD dev's seem stuck with their one trick pony. No doubt with all the hype it will sell by the bucketload and make them £millions, just leaving 1000's of frustrated gamers in its wake.

And of course the sting in the tail, having to register via Steam means zero secondhand resale potential.

2 star title at best.

I'm glad i kept my pre order now i am really enjoying the online, at first i didn't like it, but once i opened up my nat is working much better and getting lag free games..

I also found i am hosting a lot of the games too which is kinda cool.

As for the game play its self, i am enjoying it more so then mw. The main 2 things i like about it, the amount of weapons and peaks and add ons there are. Also the way the maps are designed on a a lot of the maps you cant really tell your playing with less players in terms of action.

One thing that botherd me about most of the cod games since the originals is the amount of nade spam and just spam in general but with less players if feels more rewarding when you do stuff like flank and try to get behind the enemy.

The downsides.

The party matching system could be better, it seems to work ok with 5 or less players any more then that and the system struggles to find you games. We are all on vent though so it helps with the problem. Hopefully its something they will improve.

When you do get lag in game theres no way to vote to replace the host, so far i had about 1 unplayable game 3-4 annoying lag games, it would be nice if people are complaining about lag to call a vote to pick a new host.

Finally the lack of a console, this is annoying for a number of reasons, firstly i like to set my sensitivity with the console, since its hard to get it right with the mouse slider thing. The lack of fov settings is annoying too.

But its pretty easy to get the console working and stuff like lean so hopefully its something the will include with a future patch.

just imagine if MP had dedicated servers.

you could choose your maps like before and who you played with

you could make minor adjustments with the console, like FOV

this game would have been awesome.

It's getting utterly attacked by some religious morons on bbc-something atm. Just pathetic, I could not watch more than 2 minutes of this biased debate, they even had a game developer there but no one would let her finish her point :/

If anyone wants to be outraged by close minded people about violent video games, put on BBC 1

EDIT - Would love to see this academic evidence of computer games causing more knife crime!

Idiots. I was quite impressed with the discussion that took place in the House of Commons though:

Keith Vaz: The Minister will be aware that at midnight a new and violent video game, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare”, is to be released. It contains scenes of such brutality that even the manufacturers have put warnings in the game telling people how they can skip particular scenes. Given the recommendations of the Byron review, specifically paragraphs 32 and 33, what steps do the Government propose to take to ensure that such violent games do not fall into the hands of children and young people? This is not about censorship—it is about protecting our children.

Mr. Simon: The clearest recommendation of the Byron review is that content suitable for adults should be labelled and sold as such, and that it should be an offence to sell such content to children. That is the case under current law and it will be the case when the law changes under the digital economy Bill. The game to which my right hon. Friend refers is certificate 18 and should not be sold to children. The Government’s job is to ensure that what adults should be able to get is clearly labelled, and that children are not in danger of being subjected to adult content.

Mr. Tom Watson (West Bromwich, East) (Lab): I have seen the content of the video game. It is unpleasant, although no worse than in many films and books. The game carries a content warning. It is an 18-plus game, and carries the British Board of Film Classification 18-plus rating as well. Does the Minister agree that it would be better for Members of the House to support the many thousands of game designers and coders, and the many millions of game users, rather than collaborating with the Daily Mail to create moral panic over the use of video games?

Mr. Simon: I was in Dundee last week visiting the video games industry, and I certainly agree that it is a large and important industry in which we have a national competitive advantage. It is important that all Members of the House and the Government continue to support it.

Good to see ministers standing up for games for a change!

Since that update or w/e it was, games are taking longer to find, for instance I used to click on team deathmatch and it would instantly connect but now it says searching possible games >60ms and then goes up until it finds a game

And I have been getting results like 2 kills and 12 deaths since day 2 =/ so for the time being I have resorted to being a ninja and I run about stabbing people =/ I get around 12 kills and 10 deaths :D but I still wana play normally, maybe Im suffering from a little lag, I want dedi servers now

I'm going to to say.. the mp really isn't that bad. You guys are making a huge fuss over this. I do miss dedicated servers but the MP is still god damn awesome. I haven't had any lag at all... maybe I've just been lucky. I've had a few disconnects here and there but that happens even when playing on dedicated servers.

One thing that really gets to me though is no chat in the lobby.

hmmm, was away for 6 weeks got back on friday and bought this straight away, so havnt heard or seen whats been going on regarding mw2, single player awesome, multiplayer awesome, its sad about the dedicated servers, if i havnt mist any official news i believe sometimes in the near future dedicated servers will come, its pretty much impossible to have clans with no dedicated servers ?, they pretty much screwed the clan side over, so i think theyll look at this big mistake and change it at some point.

i played all last night and had no lag what so ever and allso got games rather quick.

You can still have clan games. I've played many games and the other team have been all clan members.

Not sure if you can change teams once the lobby randomizes everyone. That could be a problem for clan games..... then again, clans are lame these days. :p
