Pac-Man Vs Cotto **SPOILERS**

I don't know why it was stopped, Cotto wasn't in anymore trouble than he has been already, he should have been allowed to finish the fight.

Pacman was superb, yet again.

I think Pacman was offering the corner a way out, throw the towel in, he showed a different intent this round, had the ref not stopped it, it would have been round 9 all over, was the right call. Pacman started that round looking for blood and there was zero reply when Cotto was cornered.

That was a truly awesome display, that performance was so completely dominant its really the first time I've considered Pacman having a really good chance at Mayweather, that fight I would pay a lot to see.

EDIT:_, the ref's m8 probably had a big bet on the 12th round aswell ;)

I have to agree, before this I always thought Mayweather would outclass him. The fact that Cotto is technically a great boxer and got nowhere near Pacqiaou makes me think that Mayweathers overtly defensive approach could actually result in him getting well beaten.

The good news is that we are set for probably the best fight in the last decade next year. :)

Mayweather is the only guy who has hand speed and agility to match Pacquiao. I would love to see Pacquiao take Mayweather apart, surely this would be the most eagerly anticipated fight of the past decade, of any division

The only thing is Cotto's counters just weren't good enough, he faught the wrong fight I think, Mayweather is quicker than Cotto, smarter, and is also deceptively strong like Pacman. I couldn't call it, I think it would take form like Pacman showed today to take him. Pacman I think would take a lot more hits from Mayweather, who has maybe the best defence in boxing, better than Pacmans and far far better than Cotto's.

Its got to happen, almost every boxing fan in the world wants to see it, we're now at the point where every other contender has been beaten, no one else is really close to good enough. if Mayweather wants to prove it, its this fight or retirement.

The biggest issue could be form and Mayweathers lack of fights, though he did stay stupidly fit while he was "retired" so, might not matter.

This.

I'd love to see pacman destroy pretty boys perfect record along with his smugness!

The guy fought flawlessy tonight

That should have been stopped in the 9th or 10th, by the ref or from Cottos corner.

Big Kev, I think Kenny was right to stop it, even in the 12th. As the commentators said, "It can only take one punch".

i expected him to be knocked out at around round 7
credit to cotto for not quitting...he took a beating and hung in there

Did Mayweather 'retire' again, after fighting Marquez? Or is he back on the scene again properly now? :D

To be honest, I don't know, I assumed he was off fighting in the WWE again, or the UFC, or strictly come dancing, or big brother Russia or something :p

To be fair when he "retired" before, he was apparently keeping in pretty much the best shape of his life anyway, just maybe a little rusty in terms of sparing with the best out there.

The biggest question would be, will his defence hold up to the ridiculously accurate Pacman I think. His defence is awesome, but thats helped by his opponents getting frustrated and getting sloppy while throwing wild punches which Mayweather is an expert at avoiding while slipping the counters in. Pacman like pretty much no one else around, can maintain accuracy when he's flailing about like a maniac in close. I think/hope they have really the perfect styles to deal with each other, which I pray will make for a ridiculously exciting slugfest, rather than a stalemate standoff with both unsure quite how to beat the other.

Thing is fighters can save all their energy for one last huge round, if you're still saving that energy in the 12th, you're done. Likewise Pacman I think went easy for two rounds thinking he could get a easy knockdown without inflicting the same kind of punishment he dished out in round 9. When the round started Pacman showed a massive increase in intent to take Cotto down, and Cotto showed he had nothing left for a massive comeback, it was definately the right call at that point. Really he should have stopped it in the 9th, probably after then 2nd massive unanswered beating in the round.

Wtf ref? He decides to stop it in the final round? Maybe he missed all the punishment Cotto has been taking in the previous few rounds

Strange point to stop it, but Cotto was outclassed. Mayweather for next May I hope.

This.
