Right, I sold my cavalier, then scrapped my mkIII supra, and have been using my bike to get to work for the past month or two.
As the weather is getting colder and wetter, I'm on the hunt for something new.

Requirements are as follows:
Rear wheel drive
Reliable (well, as much as possible for something that will probably be quite old)
Preferably over 100bhp per tonne
Under 1.5k

The only ideas I have so far are BMW 325, Merc 190e, and sierra DOHC.

Surely there are more choices? Or am I asking too much?

as the weather is getting worse, surely you want something that is going to handle it better.
my money goes on the best mondeo you can afford, will be a better place to be and hopefully more reliable!

every single thread on ocuk motors asking for advice on what car to buy has at least a single post mentioning MONDEO! i dont see all the fuss about it.. he asked for RWD give him the RWD not a mondeo...

Yes because an old Sierra is leaps and bounds above a Mondeo. Can't really recommend an old BMW for reliable motoring and as he 'needs' RWD then an MX-5 may be suitable, but I don't see it being ideal for a commute depending how far it is.

24v Cosworth Scorpio. Can pick a good one up for around £1000

It's something a little different to the usual old mondeo & BMW recomendation, & is becoming a rare car now
as they stopped making them 10 years ago.

Has a 2.9L 24 valve 200+bhp engine, RWD & comes with loads of toys as standard such as leather,
electric everything, traction control, climate control etc.

The only downside is they only did autos for the cosworth model.

There is a 2.3L version which came with all the same equipment if you have the Ultima spec,
but with 140+ BHP & was available with a manual box.

I have the 2.5L diesel estate, & it's great for eating motorway miles, but still a bit of fun round town.

Cheap and RWD.

That'll be a Vauxhall Omega then won't it.

EDIT: Gah, someone beat me to it, although I don't think I'd go for one with Viper stripes.

Ooh some good ideas. Much appreciated guys.
Would kill for a manta, but can never find any...

On a side note: Mondeo? Get out of this thread! Read the requirements!
