OWNED - xbox dead while playing MW2

I know they're not literally replacing any chips, but I thought 'chipped' had come to be an accepted term for modifying anything electronically and illegally. I stand corrected.
 
My xbox just died while playing Borderlands... Well it started glitching last night but I thought I had been playing too long! Bah half an hour away from 1000/1000 Borderlands!

I was buzzing today, been waiting ages for this game to appear, finally got my copy of MW2 for £26, then played the thing for couple of missions (when the Russian migs appear over USA) then my Xbox thinks "F' it, I’ll own this guy good and proper" and the does the funky green screen thingy where shades of green artefacts appear.

Just tried to check online with M$ if it’s under warranty but the system won’t show my details properly and wants me to ring the 0800 no. which shut at 10pm. anyhow it seems I am out by few months, build date is 2006/03/12, all Xbox had 3 years of warranty I think??

What are my options guys, has anyone ever got MS to fix their system just out of warranty? Money is tight now but if I buy a new system what should I watch out for? Not up to date on the entire Jasper thing.

there not MIGs there flankers like an su-27 -su37 or somthing along thoses lines :)
 
I had three 3 red lights, not 4 as i first thought. MS are going to collect the console but i couldn't wait and bought an elite today. I'll sell the fixed one when it comes back.

Thats stupid, why even bother wasting that money on buying a new console.. cant you wait a week or two for your new one to come back..


Mine 360 also broke, played MW2 the night before and turned the console off fine and the next morning i turn it on to find the 3 Red Rings..Called MS and there gonna get it picked up and fixed. but they dont damn tell you when they are going to pick it up or anything so i gotta stay in all next week im guessing!??

No you get an email.

You then click the link and they ask you when you want it picked up.

I think there is a lead time of 4 days from memory.

They use UPS.

I got sent a UP label...not looked at the procedure yet though. When i bought the new one there was someone in the shop who had the same problem earlier in the year. They took 3 months to fix that one....so no, not daft to spend the cash.

It will cost me around £70 to upgrade to a bigger xbox which is quieter and a new warranty.
 
Got my UPS label and just waiting for my xbox to be picked up now, Have no idea when UPS are going to collect it.

And it looks like its going to be sent off to Frankfurt, Germany to get fixed.
