Wondering if anyone does it? Im toying with the idea. Looking at the 'Philips QC5170' clippers, which from reviews seem to be the ones to have.

Id feel a bit cheap about doing it, but im fed up with my fairly long hair and have recently been having urges to shave it short. The clippers above are reduced to £20 on a certain internet retail store, so im fairly tempted. Any one have an experience with this? Thanks

I do, well not my own, mum does it. My step dad cuts his own too.....

Never had any problems and it saves money...

I do the bits I can see and my wife does the bits at the back.

If you're just clipping your entire head, what exactly is your question? You just shave it, simple, no fuss. The only thing you can do is check the back of your head in mirrors afterwards to make sure it's even.

dont know about those brand of clippers but i used to cut my own hair with clippers a long time ago

dont see the problem with it

Ive done this loads of times, number 1 all over and use mirrors to check the back is done properly.

I dunno, iv always gone to the hairdressers and dont really trust myself not to mess it up. I dont want to end up with stupid hair :D would you say that the difference between this is noticeable to a barbers cut?

Do it all the time, grade 2ish all over once a week, saved me a ton of money over the last few years I can tell you.

I go between doing a number one on myself, to paying a tenner at the local barbers for a short back and sides. Pretty boring really. BUT I WILL NEVER, EVER DYE MY HAIR!

Cutting your own hair is for gypo's!!! If you are getting a skin head go your local tatty barbers and keep someone in the job!

I am only jelous tbh, I spend over £20 to keep me lovely golden locks in order:eek:

Rather a Gippo than a flamin' homosexual, who can barely read.

i trim my hair with trimmers i have done it for 15 years lot cheaper than going to the hiardressers lol

Trust me, hairdressing is not rocket science when we're talking grade x all over. It's so easy you can't possibly muck it up.

I do mine on a grade 0 or 1 usually, do my whole head myself and get my partner or gf (who ever is available) to do the trimming (neck/ears etc)

Cutting your own hair for a short back and sides type affair is very easy indeed, it takes a little bit longer usually than it would going to the hairdresser but there's no waiting around, the convenience of being able to do it whenever you want and after a couple of haircuts you've probably paid for the clippers.

The only things to do are to ensure you give yourself sufficient time to do it and the very obvious point to move from the higher grade attachments to the lower ones (e.g. go from a grade 4 to a grade 3 etc) because cutting it in stages is easier and you're less likely to make a mistake that way.

I've been cutting my own hair (what's left of it) for years. It's saved me a fortune... and I resent having to pay £5-£7 for someone to clip my hair for me when I can just do it for myself.

Ive let my hair get into a right state and I'm considering just cutting it all off down to a grade 2. But having never had it cut so short in my life I'm a bit hesitant. I just hate going to the barbers when it gets this long as it takes them forever and you can see people sat waiting looking at their watch.

I guess worst case scenario, I'll have to wear a woolly hat permanently for a few weeks :p.

i cut my own hair, skin head like - cant be chewed with styles, straight off nee bother ;)

you save loads of £££, just to get ya head shaved in a barbers is about £6
