**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

I find it's a bit stupid to have the DLC but not be able to use it when offline.

I mean you already downloaded it. Why can't you use it other wise.

When ever I'm offline I can't even load my characters because of it.
It's quite annoying.

You could use the pirate DLc release and just install it to your game so you can use it off-line without issue.

i am on the verge of completing the game + DLCs, ive done nearly all side quests, chars are high level (near cap) and i just dont want to finish the game.

The game itself is nice to play, but its too linear, i think its because ive played too many other games/ online etc.

The biggest mistake i made was to play the game under normal, i should have done the hardest setting as in the game i think the most deaths i have had with all characters in total must be under 9. My party at the moment is Main char is duel weld dps, then i have allistar as tank, wyn as healer and morri as dps/ support also.

I am still not sure about morri role as later on she can take out 10+ people with them aoe spells etc and still have enough mana left to pwn more. Sten and org are good at 2H but have no CC they are just beef and well mages are a bit overpowered.

They need to tame down or remove force field as a spell also.

The people who pirated it had every single bit of DLC available to them on release day, all this nonsense of having to be logged in does, as usual, is hurt those that bought the game.

Yes it really hurts the legitimate users.

I mean, you are clearly using the internet now, so why cant a game use it to verify?

This reminds me of people arguing that Windows 7 uses too much memory

Completely absurd.

Yes because it takes up so much bandwidth to log into an account.

Yarrrrrrrr!

My problems with BT extend beyond limited bandwidth into the realms of total connection loss. It's rare for me to be playing for more than 2 hours before getting a 'lost connection to server' message, and the connection frequently shuts down for half an hour at a time. I guess I got unlucky on this occasion.

I'm in that dorf city at present and god it's a PITA to navigate around! I can't stand the place! At Lv15 now and I think the game is becoming too easy on normal mode so I might have to ramp up the difficulty.

Morrigan and Wynne's spells can practically demolish whole armies at this stage whilst Shale and myself sit back and have a smoke.

I know what you mean, I'm sure it's authentic to the world and all, but the whole city is mapped out in end-to-end long walks. Trying to get from the Shaperate to the vendor in dust town takes half a lifetime.

I've given up playing games online with a ping of ober 800.

It's a damn annoying feature, I payed for my content and I can't even use it when offline.

Just doing the Dalish quest (Werewolves). Hit the first choice in the game that i'm struggling with, i'm not sure who to help.

Oh I am doing that too, maybe not quite as far as you though. The only choice in that area I struggled with was to kill the guys ware-wife or not but it did not look like I had the option to save her anyway. Decided to kill the big tree rather quickly after becoming impatient with trying to figure out what the crazy man wanted to trade for the acorn :/ Regretting it now. Had good fun fighting the mage-sack quest bosses in this area, each one has been about 12 minutes of fighting with lots of tactical changes mid-fight and crazy potion usage :D

Having a dilemma actually about whether to use the talent re-specialisation mod to optimise my party, to get rid of Morrigan's silly shape shifting abilities and put those points somewhere useful, for example. Feels slightly like cheating. I do feel it will help me enjoy the game more though, it's annoying seeing the points pre-spent in places where I don't want them to be when you first encounter people :o

One of the few times i've actually enjoyed tactics :p Just looking for the fourth spot at present. Wouldn't mind seeing this armour set in action.

Considering most of the developed world has a broadband "always" on connection, would it be really out of the question to use the internet for game registration?

An 800 ping in FPS online games, is completely different to sending minutes amount of data to "check" your logged in.

Read a few posts up, you don't need to be online to use your DLC.

Aye, I struggled with that one a lot, I'm past that choice and onto another similar one.

I keep finding that neither of the choices I'm presented with are good choices, it's a case of picking the lesser of two evils. :p

*Minor Spoilers*

I remained neutral for the big choice, refused to help either party. For some reason it sided me with the Werewolves at the start of the battle, then gave me the achievement for siding with the Elves as Witherfang was killed during the fight. I had to go on and take out the Elf fella despite this.

A bit strange really, but it suited me fine as despite my character being a Dalish Elf I couldn't give a rats bum about either party.

Ditto. Her shape change ability really is useless. I've only used it about 2-3 times, when she's out of mana and I have no pots.

Its not even worth changing when she's being attacked, as the bear makes a useless tank and your better off using Mindblast/CoC or similar. Waste of 2 talent points. As she's the only damage-spec Mage in the game, its not like I have any choice either.

On my next play through, I'll respec her. I don't mind "modding" on my second/third playthrough to make things more interesting, but I'll stick to the "Vanilla" game on my first.

On a similar topic - rolling a warrior - why do you *automatically* have a point put into a sheild talent? I want a 2H bloke, and I have no intention of wasting a point on that...respec ahoy! ;)

I've been thinking of doing this too, not sure if its cheating or not though. I know i'd have much more fun with the game if I could make my preferred party members useful :p.

Heading to Orzammar tonight. Really looking forward to it :D.

1 Spirit Healer 1 Arcane Warrior (me) 1 ....Morrigan whatever she is (Mostly Tribal/Entropy) 1 Templar/Champion just gets better and better.

Now Wynne has all Spirit Healer spells, people rarely die.

Basic tactic is send Alistar in, then Area of Effect spell the bejebus out of everything (Grease + set it on fire, earth quake, send Morrigan is to Cone of Cold (followed by Stonefist on deadliest enemy for chance to shatter) then Forcefield Alistar followed by Crushing Prison to create a Shockwave)

Took down my first high dragon yesterday as well (first attempt!) loot surprisingly mediocre - and no gold! :( Got some amazing screen shot of my character doing the killing blow animations - Juggernaught Armour Set + Sword/Dagger + Blood Splatter + Acrobatic action = Win.

Killed a small dragon that dropped 20 Gold somewhere before but it wasn't that hard, was only as big as a drake.

Awesome game.
