My thoughts so far after levelling up to 24.
At first i thought the IWNet setup was OK, I had no problems and got on to servers ok and now play Hardcore TDM and SD and enjoy it. However..... I am getting increasingly more perplexed by the time it takes to get into games and also the fact that I always seem to be on servers with people not speaking to English.
Last night I played for 2 hours and everyone was french! I checked my Steam download settings and I am set to UK so I dont know why this is happening. Also the matchmaking facility - how does that work then - it seems to me that the matchmaking is there to ensure that at least two people at level 55 onwards get to flaunt their perks and gear and kill you continuously into the bargain until you get bored or they leave. I am playing against people who have had a couple of 24 hour sessions - know the maps and I am getting naded straight after leaving spawn and not even getting to understand the maps. Not really fun which is what IW kept harping on about...although I suppose if your at level 55 then its great!!
Also I am getting slightly more lag in games now and some times i just get kicked from the lobby without even getting into a game.
Its a good game, and I enjoy facets of the mp experience but overall its not as gripping as COD4 mp.
Here is an example real life scenario (for TF2, COD4, ETW or L4D) - Wife makes me a cup of tea, she puts it on my desk and I grunt appreciation (sometimes!), I continue fragging - an hour later I remember my cup of tea - reach for it and its ice cold...bugger I am tealess.
Here is an example real life scenario for CODMW2 - Wife makes me a cup of tea, she puts it on my desk and I grunt appreciation (sometimes!), I continue fragging until end of map - reach for cup of tea - drink tea....still hot...go to kitchen nab some biccies and go back to helm - drink tea to completion and then wait for next game to start.
Now its ok if you a tea addicted gamer but I prefer to play, play, play! I will carry on playing it but more as a drop in bit of fun than a serious longterm digital partner. Its true - for PC gamers IW have dropped the ball somewhat - never mind, no point complaining its their game after all they can do what they like with it.
