I've just installed a 5770 as a temporary card whilst my 4870x2 has gone back to RMA, which is taking a while.

Mostly things are fine, but I'm getting bad frame skipping / stuttering constantly in GTA4. I'm running the 9.11 beta4 cats but no matter what settings I use I can't fix it, has anybody had any joy sorting this?

Specs:

Win7
i7 [email protected]
6GB ram
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Xonar DX.

Don't know about GTA but I was having issues with the 9.11 betas with MW2 and going back the the proper 9.10 drivers solved all my problems.

Might be worth a try.

Newest drivers aren't always the best as they can bring in bugs which were'nt there in old drivers.

Ah, I might give them a shot. The ATI site pointed me back to the recommended 5*** drivers instead of the official 9.10s.

I had trouble with resuming sleep with those so I tried the beta 4's instead, as I thought the 9.10's weren't supported.

Does the game freeze as you press keys on your keyboard? how about if you load into the game and leave the keyboard alone is it running smoothly?

Reason i ask is because I had a issue when i pressed a key I would get a 0.1 second freeze. If it this problem give me a shout and I'll try to find what i did to resolve this.

I tried the fixes for that, but I think it may be a different problem as disabling the event log did nothing. If I stand still but rotate the camera outside it will jerk and stutter as it moves round a lot.
