Cutting your own hair.....

Only tramps have shaved heads

I would if it was going to look good but it wont and I would look a tit in a skinhead. But I need to do something, these days it costs like 20 quid atleast.

I have a mate that is training to be a hairdresser, I will give him a couple more months at college then I might let him have a try.

What approach do you guys take to the ears? It seems common to have an even, shaved, rounded gap around them. But I am unsure how this would look if i attempted it. My clippers are the standard large size.
Also, do you just shave the back from a straight line across, or do you attempt some curved, styled line?
I prefer to cut my own hair but have become a bit paranoid and tend to look at strangers hair closely, fearing I look silly :(

Ive just shaved my head using the no8 guide. I don't dare go any lower though. Looks OK but i like to have it a bit longer on top and the sides blended in to a no2, so I'll probably just go to the barbers once the tops grown a bit.

i looked at doing it myself after i wear a hat all the time now so thought bugger it and bought the Phillips ones

£19.99 on offer at argos down from £48ish

best thing i did. easy to do, simple and 7 grades to choose from. had to get my gf to do my crown as i have a weird one that requires more tactful trimming lol

Joke

A Scotsman walks into a barber's...

Jock: 'What are your prices?'
Barber: '£8 for a haircut, £4 for a shave'

Jock: 'Fine, shave my head'

Used to have hair down to my shoulders (biggest mistake), woke up one morning, looked in the mirror brushing my hair back and realised the mistake... Popped to boots, bought my current clippers for 30 quid, never looked back, cut it at grade 0 (no trimmer extension, just the bare metal teeth, back about 2 notches so hair is about 2mm long) and only have to do it once a month, I do both my beard and head at the same time.

Previousused to get my hair cut, layered and properly looked after like a right little poof twice a month costing me 40 quid each time, 80 a month! I have saved so much money it's stupid lol.

i was only brave enough to go to grade 7 anything shorter i think ill look like a right **** lol

maybe i should raise money to shave it all off and then see how it looks lol

I do, about once a month, number 2 all over. been doing it for a couple of years now with a clipper i got for £10 from the bay so it saved me a fortune. It's quite easy really once you get the hang of it.

Would be impossible for me to do mine I think, since I don't just have it clipped. But I agree the money I spend is a money! :(

Agnes, I swear you love hotlinking....
