ok i know some might have there dislikes of Dell, but i can bag this i7 laptop with a few upgrades for £650 which is a total knock down of £430 using cash bag and a promo code.

sounds like a bargain too me, but two questions.... would you pay that much for a lappy?

and what about warranty standard 1 year is a little concerning but 3 year will cost a bomb, any other routes?

I was just looking at the same laptop myself but with a few upgrades like the network card and colour and im tempted but apparently the price can be knocked down even more if you phone them up.

What was the promo code you used though?

it was a 5% code and for some reason it has a big discount at the moment. Im tempted!

who said about knocking it down more on the phone?

It was someone on here in a thread a few weeks ago, but i dont know if it was true or not.

I just saw that the delivery dates that are being given are really close to xmas atm so since this laptop is going to be a prezzie i've gone ahead and ordered mine so I dont risk having it come after the big day.

Came to 780... something, but i had it in pink with the backlit keyboard, network and screen upgrades. It's gonna be used for graphical design so the screen was a good thing to get upgraded imo.

Just have to hope it comes in time now :D

sweet, i was thinking the screen upgrade would be a goodone, but then if i do that maybe blueray and before u know it 1k!! arrghghgh

Would deffo recomend the screen upgrade. If they are using the same panels as in the 1555 the standard panels sucked bigtime. The 1080p upgraded panel was just amazing.

Also just to let you guys know I had a lot of thermal problems with the 1555, the gpu heatsink is junk and would throttle in games. I had to copper mod it to keep it from throttling

The one i've ordered wont be used for games so that shouldn't be an issue hopefully, but if it does become an issue it wont take too much to change. Thanks for the warning though!

i'm pretty pleased with my combo of discounts and cash back getting the price down to what i have it at, but gonna call dell tonight and see if i can take the mick :D

yeah its all fine, but the offer i have ends on 18th nov, so just weighing up if i should spend that sort of money on a laptop. I would like it but its a big spend, so gonna think about it and make my mind up, if you mail me on jimmy . little @ gmail .com i will send you the deal info with the discounts and so on, not sure if i can post it on here and would rather keep my nose clean

And they'll say "Okay!".

DELL customer service do not care.

no they do care if you say you will cancel, i ordered a studio 17 on the web, last month and it gave a 6 week ahead date, called up and stated it was a gift and they reduced it to 15 days, which was not great but a lot better!

your from Scotland, Dell are from Ireland :D

well dunno what to say, maybe your not assertive on the phone

Well, given that the last time was a week ago, and I phoned up, gave and order number and said "I want to cancel this order" and was immediately greeted with "Okay sir, thanks" and then them hanging up, not sure how "assertive I could be".

Also Dell customer service are based in India. They closed their Irish facility a while back, afaik.
