I have a cheap pair of straps (£2.99 from Amazon) but they aren't very comfortable and make my wrists sore after a few sets of deadlifts.

Can anyone recommend some comfortable straps please? I don't mind paying up to £20.

Thank you.

I use the ones from myprotein. Nothing fancy about them though, just two straps with foam padding round the part that connects with your wrist, never given me any bother. Are you putting yours on correctly?

+1.
using the same, simple and very effective.

Tank sent me some CNP (I think) straps. Fantastic for when you're doing heavy DLs or BORs.

No point in using them until your grip fails though - even then try and try and try to build up grip strength. I'm not against straps at all (as I said I used them) but don't give into them unless you really have to. :)

Those ones from myprotein look a bit better, I might give them a go. Can you describe what sort of material it is? Is the material similar to this, just with foam padding around a portion of it?

My current ones look similar to the CNP straps, and I find the material rubs against my wrists.

I waited just about as long as I could before using straps. I train my grip every other day with my Heavy Grip hand grips and it's helped a lot, but I've reached the stage where my grip strength just isn't increasing as quickly as my back strength.

Just my personal opinion, but I don't like the idea of using straps/gloves.

Natural grip strength all the way!

I absolutely detest the twist and pullthrough variety illustrated above as they can be quite awkward for the wrists: even moreso when you take in to consideration most come without foam padding. I used them for very heavy military press on a smith.

I agree to a point, but when repping 200kg+ deads and big BORs I'd rather concentrate on the lift than worry about the grip. However, I very much try and do as many reps without straps first.

I have some NSC straps which have the foam padding. Never had a problem with them. My old training partner used to have some without the padding which could begin to cut into your wrist if there's enough weight.

Why would you use straps for Mil press? Wraps maybe, but not straps.

Because of the twist (mechanism) on the bar and wrist straps was all I had. They did the job.
