I'd sell the 4870 and get a couple of 5770's.

Won't need another PSU and you'll get better performance when clocked, plus they're quiet.

I agree with selling the 4870 and grabbing a pair of 5770s.

The power consumed by two 4870s is immense - plus they use 90 watts each in Idle as opposed to 18 watts each on the 5770.

Won't get that much for his old 4870 now though so he will still have to find a good 180 quid or so for 2x 5770's.

Might save it on leccy I guess but it's still around £80 more than just another 4870.

So do you actually think that I can get more performance with 2x5770 than with 2xhd4870?.2xhd5770 would cost me 275 quid with shipping and VAT.With that kind of money I could ge an HD5850.

A new 4870 would be about £100

2 new 5770's cost around £250, even with £60 from his old card that leaves £190 still needed. This is £90 more than just putting a new 4870 in would cost. If he already has £150 yes that leaves only £40 to find....it's still £90 more though.

Factor in that he might need another PSU with CF 4870 plus the extra heat/noise and better performance with 5770...it's easily worth it.
