iPhone + Orange Juice

Just spilt a fair amount of orange squash on my iPhone ()
Dried it with a towel and turned it off ASAP, before I turned it off I noticed that the "This accessory is not designed for.." box kept coming up and the volume slider was gone from the iPod bit.

What should I do now? Leave it off for a few hours to dry out?

Airing cupboard for a couple of days. Has to be totally dry inside or you run the risk of frying it !

Edit: But then I guess that depends on how much juice you spilt on it !

That message appears because water has entered the 30-pin dock connector.

It happened to me when I took my phone in the pool with a mate..



Dry it out and it'll be fine.

If my iPhone is off (by holding the power button then doing "slide to turn off" method) any alarms that were on and set to go off tomorrow wont go off will they?

my mate got his iphone wet in a waterfight. he forgot to take it out of his pocket. a couple of hours on a shelf above a radiator it was fine. pretty resiliant things

I would be tempted to turn it off ans soak the thing under water for a day and then in an airing cupboard for 2 weeks to dry out. es,

Water will cause corrosion, the unit is basically a goner, it may work for a time and thats great, don't rush out and get another because it got wet, but also don't expect it to last. If its insured get it done now otherwise just start saving your pennies as you'll be needing 13,900p at some point when it gives up the ghost, unless your exceedingly lucky.

That is classic water damage...

- White screen
- Buttons not working
- Buttons randomly pressing
- Randomly turning off
- This accessory is not supported when not plugged into anything.

A combination of these could strongly indicate water damage above the visible obvious...

- 1 or more indicators set off
- Strange marks / 3d effect (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2642uz5&s=4)
- Damp smell
- Corrosion
- Water marks
- Water its self
