I'm currently listening with Creative X-fi fatal1ty headphones, and they're OK for TV/music, and pretty good for games. I imagine these should be a lot better for TV and music.

Get the goldring dr150 much better straight off a soundcard and other sources such as mp3 and the ns1000 hiss is going to annoy you.

Well I've ordered the NS1000s now, going to see if the hiss is an issue. If so, I'll sell them on and change to the DR150s. I'm quite up for getting a dedicated headphone amp though, if that makes a lot of difference.

Allows you to run the NS1000 passively and hence have noise cancellation off and hence no hiss.

Plus they are meant to sound ace on an amp. That's why since they were only £50 I splashed out £16 on the amp.
