*** ATi 5970 - In Stock & Shipping Now ***

So much for ATI/AMD once saying they wanted to keep prices down....LOL

To be fair to them they set the price at $599. Not their fault we don't get $2 to the pound and these aren't £350.

Also doesn;t help the short supply and demand > supply which means a £100 premium on them at the moment.

Surely you must have know by now that it's the 2 year old crysis game :D

yeh lol, i played the game once through then sold it.

Why are people spending £550, surely xfire 5770 or sli gtx260 has gotta be the way to go?

5850 if they had any stock for single gpu.

£550 is insane.

Anyone selling their car for one? :p

Really, is it?

I remember "back in the day", I nearly spent a whopping £400 on a Geforce 2 ULTRA, and this was what, 9 years ago?

Take into account inflation, take into account that this is two GPUs on one board, and take into account what it can do, and suddenly it doesn't seem quite so ridiculously priced does it?

Yes, it still sounds crazy

Am afraid a Nikkor 24-70 favors over this.

Will pick one up in 6 months. Infact looking at the specs and the video ram size it could run a pair of 30" Eizo's ?

Look like there getting worst then nvidia for stupid prices...LOL

They still have a way to go before encroaching on the sheer force of **** take that was the 8800 Ultra's original launch ($830 and up!) price though. :p

These high prices are dangerous, after reading the entire thread and letting the ~£500 price sink in, suddenly the ~£300 cards don't seem expensive anymore :p (they have always been to me and would be my absolute max budget for a graphics card).

Looking forward to the "unboxing" videos flooding youtube tomorrow, probably the most pointless type of video in human history..

Well; with a $599 rrp, that gives you £357 + VAT at the current exchange rate, call it £380 with customs, shipping and that malarky.
I don't quite know how you get from £380 to £460, aside from filling retail pockets. Especially noting that the would include a cut for retailers already...

That didn't stop be buying one.... want 3x 24" gaming over xmas

Launch price inflation is nothing to do with ATI (or Nvidia), it is the retailers charging what they want because they can.

OCUK charged £520/530 for their 5970s and sold out in an hour, too cheap then surely?
