The Official Motorola Milestone Thread

How is that idiotic? It's a business IT site, so the review focuses on features that are important to businesses, like Exchange integration.

This phone seems pretty immense... only recently got a Blackberry (Pearl 8110), but for the right price I'd be tempted to upgrade it after Xmas.

Pity about the UK networks though :(

Interesting... so the QWERTY isn't THAT bad? Was there any tactile feel? Did you need to stretch much due to the D-pad?
Don't know about Clipsey but I didn't really take note of just how tactile the keyboard was.
I'm tending to think though that it was somewhat clicky as I'd have had a less positive immediate impression otherwise.
With regards to the D-pad, it didn't feel out of reach to me, although I have fairly large hands. Your stubby girl fingers might disagree though. ;)

Err... read the comments in the review and all will become clear. It was wildly biased, and inaccurate.

this ever going to get a uk release ? due my upgrade on vodafone next month and still have no idea what to get or what can i get

Nobody knows yet, it's still very possible but I wouldn't count on it. I'm at least hoping it won't be too long until it is on sale here SIM free. I may get the HTC HD2 as an upgrade (they're going for £500-600 at auction) and sell it for the Milestone

It will be on sale sim-free in the UK very soon... just not with contract as yet due to stupid carriers not picking it up.

may do the same if they will give me one. on a 35 per month contract so i guess they should do ? never done a mid contract 'upgrade' before though

any other phone they offer at the moment is pretty much a sidestep from the omnia i got with my contract :/

I send Voda a letter wishing to cancel, they ring me up, I get whatever phone I want for free and stay on £25pm. If they don't get the Milestone I'll prob do that to get it

Had a longer play with it today, paying special attention to the keyboard and D-pad.

The keyboard, while not super-comfortable, is accurate, as the key travel is very linear, depressing without much tilting or play.
The feedback is also pretty good, with a definite soft click on each press.
I think I could live with it.

Accessing the D-pad was not a stretch at all and the feel was similar to the keyboard's.
I'm not thrilled by the somewhat cheap look though and the fact that there's not much space between the left edge of it and the keyboard. It makes left clicking a bit fiddly, requiring a more precise thumb press or a thumbnail press.

Just been searching and found a site that lists the milestone at £439.99 inc VAT
