It's proving particularly difficult to find any opinions or reviews of the 120mm Akasa Apache fan (disregarding that frankly pathetic one over at tech-reviews).

Just wondering if anyone has one/several of these and what are your thoughts/reflections, and are there better alternatives, such as the Noctua or those Noiseblocker ones.

Everyone seems to pick holes in the bit-tech roundup of 120mm fans, so i'm not sure whether to take their recommendation of the gentle typhoon.

I was thinking of filling my CM-690 with Apaches, since the default Coolermaster fans seem particularly crrrap. :p

I've just filled my new HAF 922 with 4 Apaches - two on top and two in push/pull on my H50. All I can hear is the whoosh of air, and that's not bad at all. Much quieter than the stock CM fans in my previous case.

I've not put the sides on the case yet, but I don't expect it will make much difference given the amount of holes in it.

As it was a whole new build (and obviously due to not having the sides on), I can't really compare temps, but they seem to be doing their job.

I have one on my Megahalems & it definitely keeps my CPU nice & cool. Its the only fan I've had on there so no comparisons sorry. Very impressed with the quietness of it though.

I Have 2 in push/pull on my true there ok, no better in push/pull then my old single thermalright 2000rpm. All in all not bad for £9 but you have to be nuts to buy these at £14each IMO

Yeah, I'm really tempted to replace all the fans in my case with the apaches. Only problem is, there are so many fans to replace, I have a thermaltake mozart TX and the fans I have in there are - 2 pabst on my rad, 2 antec tricools, 2 xilence redwings, 3thermaltake TT1225 generic case fans. So yeah, nine fans all together, I guess I could put my Antecs on the lowest speed and the redwings in non temperature sensetive areas... Anyone know what the Apache fans are link when mounted on a radiator?

Can't compare temps or sound levels, as this is a brand new build, but I have 3 running in my system (exhaust) and they're running very well.

Hmm.. it's good to hear people's opinions.

I'm also currently being tempted by the Noiseblocker Multiframe S-Series, but i'm not sure whether i want to pay like ~£17 a fan for something that might make one degree of difference.

OCUK are offering the Apaches on offer, so i might just do that..

Or Gentle Typhoons.

I only have one fan in my pc and its a noiseblocker S2 at 7v
worth every penny if you only have 1 or 2. BUT they are case fans (do not use on rad/HS)

GT on rads (YL's if you have a PA120.x rad) or so I'm told

Also thinking about adding 2 fans to my TRUE.. can't decide which to go for, the Apache's, seem the best bet but are 4pin would I have to buy an adapter to fit them onto a 3pin?

Unless the fan header has a 3pin sized shroud around it you should be ok to use a 3 pin header.

Would this not make the current TRUE fan better on paper anyway? It has higher RPM, Airflow? Although the Apache is a lot quieter.

depends what u want to use it for, if ur using it to blow through a radiator then u will probably wana find out the static pressure of the TRUE.

otherwise it depends if u like peace and quiet sound or lots of air shifted.

i like to get noisy fans that shift air because i can turn em down with my fan controller when i need to hear myself think ad crank em up when im benching.
