Laws on age difference in a relatioship at 17?

Okay so in relation to Whats the youngest you would go?

I'm 17. If, for example I was to be in a non-sexual relationship with a 14/15 year old, is there anything by law wrong with that?

Is there any age limit on relationships with under 16's? For instance surely a 40 year old with a 15 year old wouldn't be legal?

i think legally, as long as it was a non sexual relationship, then it would be fine. Although society might not have the same view. But then again im no legal advisor

I think Legally its fine (no-sexual stuff though!).

But 99% of the people who know about it will think you're a pedo,
 
any kind of intimate contact would be classed as peadophilia, seeing her naked, kissing her, in today's society, you'd probably be branded a peado for just holding her hand really.

it's a very fine line to walk, do anything wrong and you're going to end up worse for it, and as stated, if you upset her and she tells someone you touched her, you're not going to just get a slap on the wrist.

just look at the thread wherein the OPis being told to leave his job at a school, he's 19 and knows some of the students from a social circle, one of them merely joked about sleeping with him, and he's in a lot of trouble/lost his job, and the person involved even said it was a joke
 
Okay thanks for your replies. My friends that know about it all alright about it. 2/3 years is the socially acceptable limit for most people I know.

Actually, as much as I hate to say it he is quite correct. Paedophilia is a preference for pre-pubescent children.

Ephebophilia generally refers to a preference for those ages 14-16.

But what I'm saying is non-sexual!

And it's not as easy as 'find someone your own age'. There's just 2 and a half years between us. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. She's just as, and if now more mature than girls my age. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing written in black and white saying a relationship isn't allowed.
 
No, there's not. It's just not a very good idea IMO based on the.....

Ah, actually scrap that. You'll be fine if she's mature enough not to try and screw you over. :)
