Urgh, cue a rant.

A friend of mine at University always whines. Everyday is a mood swing rollercoaster and she is constantly in a 'bad mood' or having a '**** day' and so on. Anyways, i asked how her day was on MSN and she said she had a bad day and she was fed up. I asked why and she said that she felt down because she never has any money. (She looks after dogs, walks them and all that sort of thing whilst attending a few lectures a week). I asked if there was any chance she could do more and look after more dogs and to be honest, she always complains about money so i suggested getting another job that pays better. She gets all stroppy and says money is 'only temporary'. I said "I guess it is in some sort of vague way...but you can't complain about a lack of money if you don't want to do anything about it". She says she's "not in the mood for my attitude" and logs off.

Some of my friends really do act half their age.

/done.

To be fair, you don't talk to females like that. They are always right, and you should never give proper solutions to their problems when they are still down about them.

If she is upset about not having enough money then telling her to get off her arse and get more jobs is not something she would want to hear from a friend.

Point taken. I perhaps should have worded it better. She constantly whines and has done for a year or so. It does my nut in when people whine and then not do anything about it. :o

This, its hard work turning annoyances into something to try and help them in a way they would like...but hey... its women, its what you gotta do!

Just shows she's more interested in a soundboard to talk at rather than genuine constructive advice.

Try moaning at her next time (and delete as appropriate) about how you're tired of being [hungry / single / a man] but you don't feel like seeking out any [food / women / morphine, a scalpel, an ice cream scoop and a box of kleenexes] and see if she sees the irony.

Why should they be treated any differently to anyone else just because they are female? He offered a perfectly good solution to her problem, just because she didn't want to hear it doesn't change anything.

Then stop talking to her if she is so bad, stop whining

If your not prepared to listen when someone has a problem rather than tell them to do more for themselves whilst said person isn't happy then what would you expect them to say?

Because they have glorious hidden fruits. Treat them like gods and the gates to the garden open.

I have a friend who complains of having no money yet she's going out buying fancy toiletries, games, CDs, and the like.

And most weekends she spends a fair amount going out with friends.

It's her money to spend but don't come bending my ear about it when it's all gone on unnecessary luxuries.

Completely agree, yet if you actually do it, they will ignore you.

To be fair I'd have done the same as the OP, she sounds like a right whiney cow and obviously an attention whore!
