The cheapest quotes i've had is £525 door to door with import duty. There's obviusly port-to-port I take it for £350 including fees. But then shipping in america to the address is dirt cheap and in Dollars and picking up in Uk isn't to bad.

And it looks like they can store, so I could buy stuff over a long time and get it shipped out in mass. Humm wonder if anyone has used them.

Humm may sign up and find something small like some rubber mounts or something.

No up date, been sat a my parents for 2years and 3months with no work at all. I'm moving house in the new year and it's preparation for this.

Sounds a bit high on $850, just double checked, it was $1300.38 not $1258.00 and this was the breakdown :

Duty isn't fixed it depends what the item is as to what % you pay.

Only £18 of the £163 was import duty, VAT was the big hit.

Duty is as much or higher than vat for some items.

What items attract that level of duty? I mean items likely to be personally imported applicable to this thread, not live animals, arms, booze etc

Cycles for a start seem to be 14%duty very relevant to this thread. Duty rate depends on item and you have to look it up to see what it is.

Dutycalculator also shows 14% for a bike, but 4.7% for parts. SO depends what it falls under.

Hmm 14% is quite a chunk, I've noticed increasing VAT charges with the poor exchange rate this year making quite a difference too, it's a double hit as the same items effectively cost more to purchase then there's additional VAT due to the now greater consignment value :mad:
