Yes, I missed 6 months of year 10 through it and had to change school in year 5.

All I say to them now is FU. I have a job (That pays a fair bit) and a lot of them don't :)

Not really. I got into scraps but my dad taught me to always hit people in the face when they pick on you...bullies don't like the kid who always goes for the nose.

Having said that, my school wasn't particularly rough and of course all the smart kids were relentlessly called "boffs". Haha, hadn't even thought about that word for years!

Yep, was never 'sorted' for more than a few weeks, but as the year groups got bigger in senior school I didn't have to see them so much so it just tailed off... thank goodness.

Bullies don't like being hurt...

Were you ever suspended for hitting back?

No, mainly because I spent most of my time beating up people who bullied my friends. I went through a lot of crap as a kid and the friends I made in secondary school did and still do mean a lot to me. I got in a lot of fights by proxy.

I'd like to say I've changed but I'm still massively over-defensive of my old school friends when we go out.

Yes. I actually had one of them come over to talk to me and apologise about two or three months ago when I was out with some mates :p

Yes a few times and mostly by the same person from year 5 to year 11. It had an impact on me I went from being very outgoing to being very withdrawn.

If I saw the people now I would bash their brains in. :p

Only a little - ie until the bullies realised I could play rugby, so suddenly after being part of the rugby team all the other little annoying bullies left me alone, and one former bully became quite a good team-mate and friend!

Branching off from the other thread somewhat, I'm just curious: were you ever bullied at school?

Any chance of a poll please mods? A simple Yes/No will suffice.

Personally, I was. I'd also be naive to suggest that such trials didn't effect the person I grew into.

I was bullied until I learn't how to fight and it still effects me to this day for example I get easily wound up and find myself about as sensitive and as explosive as a grenade when taunted.

yup for a fair few years at secondary school, at one point even being lifted off the ground by my throat (not the greatest experience one can have at 13 it must be said), nothing ever got done about it and most retaliatory action on my part resulted in me being in trouble and him getting off scot free (i'll admit getting caught about to throw a classroom chair across the room at him was probably not wise)

I felt bullied at certain points or at least intimidated whether that was the intention behind such individuals actions, I don't know. I did bully one guy, I'd said sorry to him at the end of the year and I had mentioned it to him of my own accord with out any third party involvement so I hope he took it to be sincere.

No, I was rather large at secondary school, and rather scum. I lookback at what I did at that age and cringe. I wish that I saw the light quicker than what I actually did.

*To Clarify* I did go to a school, that failed the state inspections year after year, and supply teachers got abused and raped. I think I did OK considering my acedemic background

I was actually - for 3 days!

We only threw 1 punch each before it was broken up. I don't think the actual fight caused me to be suspended, it was probably the essay I wrote afterwards on why I had hit the guy and that I would do it again to anyone who attacked me.

Childish and adrenaline fuelled but needless to say my parents had to come into school and endure a lecture on how I was a violent and troubled child...hilarious stuff.

you only get bullied if you let yourself get bullied anytime anyone gave me **** id just give it them right back and some more, hmm maybe that's why i got expelled :( but at the same time it gained me a lot of respect, i can now go to the pub/down town and everyone knows me and respects me. and for some reason wherever i go even other countries i know someone there :P

also I'm a big believer in a eye for a eye if some idiot hits me I'm hardly gonna stand there and take it as the police expect you to do. also burglary should = hands being chopped off and rape... well you get the idea

I was bullied when I went to Secondary School.
It lasted for maybe 2-3 years, it wasn't constant, but enough.
I don't get bullied now, which is nice!

What absolute, utter rubbish.

I grew up with two brothers of similar age. We fought all the time, and I fought more than my fair share at school. I never ever lost a fight, and everyone knew I threw a nasty right hook, but that never stopped people from making my life hell. Sure, it'd die down for maybe a fortnight, but they'd soon forget and be back to old ways. Half the time people didn't even know why they were behaving the way they were to me. When quizzed: "I dunno. It's just the thing to do." Seriously, making my life hell for nothing but their own damn pleasure was simply a fashion-trend.

Too bad you don't subscribe to that attitude when it comes to the opposite sex. :D

Nope not really, well maybe when I was in year 7 when a year 8 ginger kid didn't like me because his friend took the urine out of me so I proceeded to tease the friend that he can't watch TV (his religion forbids him or something), I didn't know that guy was in the same religion.
The year 8 ginger kid literally waited for me after school for the next 2 weeks. I thought if I left 15minutes later it would be fine, unknown to me was the fact that his house is next to the alley which I take whilst walking home. He chased me down that alley several times until one day whilst walking home with my sister he came hurtling down the alley and was swiftly met by a swing umbrella in the face by my sister.
Yup my sister fought my battle....and won. :p:o
