Fermi To Launch In January

Multiple sources now claim that Nvidia has promised to ship Fermi in January 2010. We are talking about GF100 Fermi, the GPU that is expected to defeat ATIs Radeon HD 5000-series offerings. To make matters more clear, January is the time when you can hope to buy a high-end Geforce desktop graphics card based on Fermi.

Nvidia Fermi-based cards in the enthusiast market have been pushed from a late November launch to a January launch mainly due the fact that the A2 silicon chip revision was not good enough for volume production, so A3 is about to ship to partners soon. With this in mind and if all goes well, Geforce graphics cards based on Fermi architecture are expected to ship in January.

We have also heard that the launch won't take place at CES 2010, which starts on January 7th and ends of January 10th. Instead, Nvidia might launch it later at some point, but nevertheless still sometime during the month.

ATI stock problems are due to them holding chips back for 5970 thats all Mid dec offerings should resolve the ati issues

I'd like to see that posted somewhere other than Fudzilla to spark a proper interest.

Fudzilla have become way too Pro-nVidia in recent months for my liking. Seems plenty of other people have noticed this too.

I'd love it to be true mind... I'm hoping to finish my new build in January :)

edit: Also where are these "Multiple Sources" that the article mentions... hmm..

Fudzilla appears to be saying the opposite of everybody else and a day after their reports came our. Nvidia PR working overtime?

I can't see it being January tbh, as they were all reporting before, that if they were going to A3 silicon, then that would push it to around March.

Its funny, they've been calling it a 58** beater for a long time.
Obviously something 3-5 months later is going to be better...

ATI have claimed to be releasing their new architecture back end of next year anyway, if thats true i really do think Nvidia has to be prepared to lose a lot of the gaming market.

The stupid thing is no matter how powerful the Geforce 300s are, it's going to be overpowered. This makes Fuad and Charlie's fanboy articles (although Fuad comes across as less of a dick) redundant. The 285 and 4870 are more than likely enough to play Crysis 2, RAGE, Doom 4, FFXIV, etc. at decent settings, at a respectable resolution.

Ontopic...

Agreed. They're supposed to be demoing the Geforce in action at CES(?) 2 weeks into January, if A3 is sorted out by then. I don't see it being earlier than March.

i was seriously expecting april next year, so i was going to buy 2 5770s but now that i hear there coming in january, im gunna save up my wages and no matter what the cost (well aslong as its under £500 ) ill buy it if its better.

I seriously doubt that it will be under £500 Nvidia are never cheap Some of there current 295 pre order line ups are already over £500

Well, there is a paper launch (Fermi), semi-paper launch (58xx with low stocks, but still possible to buy if you are really after one) and hard-launch.

So, saying they will launch is not entirelly incorrect, it's just until march you will probably see them only listed in shops and waiting and waiting and waiting :).

This is true, the launch day of the 58** series was a bit of a non-event. People on these baords were getting a little excited and expecting them to hit the stores the same day. This was anything but the truth :D It was quite funny really.

I got one at launch ;):D

Faud does seem to be in nVidia's pocket atm - untill few weeks back he was only one saying december launch for them - now its jan... everyone else seems to think march earliest.

Fermi in January ? Never going to happen, I am sorry, but it simply just does not look that way at all, however march and april are definitely more on target from my POV.
