Gay Sex Scene in Dragon Age: Origins.

It's an 18 game. End of. The Gay comment is irrelevent (very).

I'm thoroughly sick of this crap about children. It's up to parents to take responsibility for their kids (I have a 10 year old who i wouldn't dream of allowing to play L4D, MW2 or DAO to pick on three recent releases).

However many parents are not as sensible about this. On the night of the MW2 launch there was a phone in on 5 live in the late slot and a woman rung in to say she'd sepent £90 on two copies of the game for her 13 and 14 year old kids. Her excuse was that they would keep worrying her for it if she didn't buy it....

It seems that buying over age games for kids is the same as breaking the speed limit and under age drinking....

So because of bad parenting none of us adults should be able to experience games with adult themes?

I'm looking forward to playing this game and having a right good ol' bum with an Elf.

Actually I'm having difficulty seeing your logic through the hail of comments my thread has generated. Please point out to me exactly where I'm wrong - thanks.

If you can't figure out after all the replies telling you the game is 18, and far worse content is in the game (and other games) yet you are whining about a gay scene, for a game that should be for adults then you are kinda beyond hope.

It doesn't matter if kids can get the game, that's not the point. It's not made for them, it's down to parents / shops to not provide it too them then. Also, considering that it's probably just as easy for them to get GTA4 / a copy of saw the movie which is much worse then your argument is even worse.

There are 4 characters in the game you can have a relationship with. 2 women and 2 men. 1 man can only be romanced by a woman and 1 woman can only be romanced by a man.

There's also a chance to have a three some.

Dragon Age is a mature game with mature themes; death, betrayal, murder, love, genocide, caste, racism, revenge, and I'm only 30 hours in. In my opinion it's quite ludicrous that anyone should focus solely on the homosexual relations that can be optionally explored.

This....or let me guess it is going to lead to the next Columbine massacre by two young male lovers with swords and shields.

Next they will be saying that Super Mario Kart promotes dangerous driving and aggressive tendencies.

Of course it matters if the kids can get the game! What kind of nonsense statement is that? However as the vast majority of games players are twenty something heterosexual males, isn't putting scenes of this kind into computer games pandering to the minority "pink pound"?

I also curious to know if those in this thread defending the scene and who have the game are now going to go and view this scene and/or would be happy for their kids to see it....?

Since I am currently playing a female character, its unlikely that I'll experience this scene.
However, having met the NPC character that you can sleep with, I think it fits. In actual fact, one of his lines is 'I could warm your bed', in the first conversation with him. I kinda get the impression he'd screw anything with a pulse.

I don't have kids, but I don't think its the kind of thing for youngsters to be seeing, nor would the heterosexual scenes, or the violence, or the general [adult] nature of the storyline. The GAME isn't suitable for children its hard for it to be any clearer than that I'm afraid.

I'm sorry, but you are beyond help!

It doesn't matter if there's a gay scene in the game at all! You keep saying that kids can get hold of it. So what? That's down to the parents or shops. They are the ones to blame, not the content, not the developer and certainly not the small percentage of gays that will enjoy that scene. Also, you seem to assume that ONLY the gays will enjoy that scene. I bet plenty of non gays enjoyed Brokeback Mountain! I also bet that people under the required age have seen that movie. Did you have a fit then?

No wonder kids are soft these days!

So really it was a subliminal distaste for homosexuality?

Really, does it matter that much that they have a gay sex scene? Personally I think you're using the "what about the children" opinion as a scapegoat in my opinion.

What is that supposed to mean? I don't remember asking for any help...

You think that heterosexuals will enjoy it? Really? Got something to tell us? ;)

If it has a good story line, why not?

There's no need to try and bring my sexuality into it. For the record, I already said I was straight. I'm not offended by gays.

People are trying to help you understand that people like you are wrong in this matter. You can't seem to understand that, hence you are beyond help.

I mean, have you even read this thread? Can you not see that you are in the minority?

I thought everyone knew that Elves were benders anyway? I mean really, they are always described as very effeminate and well dressed, spend most of their time enjoying 'high culture', mostly mince around light-footedly and their language isn't exactly "ENGERLUND ENGERLUND ENGURLEND"? And seriously, all they do is drink mead or some white wine equivalent, I'm surprised that LOTR didn't cut to Legolas and Elrond sharing a passionate snog while the rest of the elves boogied in a Europop-tastic disco.

That said, if this is enough to get the OUTRAGE flowing, I wonder what level of rage JK Rowling saying that Dumbledore was a gayer would have induced a couple years back - yes in a children's book!! :p

How are people angry and upset at this?

They're moaning about a tiny gay sex scene in a game when you can get free gay/lesbian/straight porn from the internet within seconds (i have no experience in this)!

What the hell is happening to the world?!

*facepalm*
