I saw, what i assume to be a meteroite a few weeks back when i was walking my dogs at 5am before work.
I walk without a torch as once your eyes adjust you can make shapes out in the dark... so im walking along and i see a flash above the hill to my right hand side. My first though was 'who the hell is using fireworks at this time?' - this was just after bonfire night.
But no noise followed this light, it was a round intesnly light ball shooting through the sky, not your average shooting star which is far away, this thing was going through the clouds on a downward trajectory like 45 degrees. I then noticed bits falling off the back of it until the light dissapeared.
Speaking with freinds they believe it was a meterorite or space debris coming back into the atmosphere burning up and eventually hitting the ground... if i didnt have work i was very tempted to go and see the other side of the hill to see if i could see anything.
I was very amazed, to think little old me saw what i hope was a meteorite's last moments after a journey that may have lasted billions/millions of years was amazing... iw ill seriously take the mental image of that morning to my grave, i was seriously amazed.
