Modern Warfare 2 largest entertainment launch in history

Ah right, I get you. I don't think anyone cares how tiny a percentage related to the PC though, except PC gamers. Activision will just be celebrating the fact that they can rip off so many console gamer so easily.

they knew console gamers would pay out that much, just like they've paid out for dlc with the previous cod's.

which is probably what pc gamers will have to do..

Why do you feel proud? Do you think they actually care? I got it for £32. I was ****ed off with SP being uber short but now I am loving owning people on MP.

I like it. I think it was worth it. Yes, IWNet sucks ass but hey ho.

All the people boycotting it are missing out imho.

 of course they care they lost several 100 customers at 50 quid a head I'm sure they do care it's just that they killed competitve PC gaming with one of the most played franchises in competitive gaming. It's a two fingered salute to the PC users who made IW rich.

I'm used to playing on selected servers with people I know and clans who kick cheaters.

Playing on cheat ridden servers with unknowns ......

I'm not missing out at all IMHO.

The point is that other companies that can't afford to **** off a large proportion of the PC Market are now falling over themselves to put in dedi servers... AvP for example. They weren't before the COD hooha. We won the dedi severs on pc argument, lost COD for the PC.. But who gives a toss with Bad Company and MOH jumping into the gap in the Market? Screw COD forever for all I care.

Missing out on what? Identical gameplay to what MW offered with less customatization available? I thought i might end up getting MW2 eventually given that i wasn't all that hyped about it in the first place, once it was announced they were screwing over PC gamers completely, i see no reason to ever buy it.

As for people paying £50 for it... frankly there will always be people with more money than sense in this world and that just proves it. You have to be a special kind of moron to pay £50 for the game when you could get it for much less via digital version (ie Steam or D2D) or simply wait a week or 2 for it to be in stock.

I fail to see how IW can claim to be anything but money grabbing whores now. MW remained at its excessively high price years after its release. They are frankly worse than EA ever were.

Completely agree with that. Can't wait for AvP :D.

Does this mean the boycott did work then?... Kinda?

The back of the box even places a slightly larger emphasis on the multiplayer. It's why the first Modern Warfare was so popular. There are a lot of people who play Modern Warfare 2 online and has never even touched the single player. I went up to level 19 before I even started on it.

i cant believe the game has done so well
not that i think its a bad game or anything its just
games like MW2 have been around for ages and MW2 doesnt really do anything new or ground breaking so why are the console guys lapping it up like its the greatest thing ever?

Halo was hardly new but they lapped that up too.

not for stopping cod sales but for showing the depth of feeling in the community.... I'd say so. IW can afford to chuck away 50% of the pc Market but if you're not 'the biggest entertainment launch in history' you probably just want to put in dedi severs and get the extra cash.

Ironically I think it helped increase the sales. The whole boycott thing was even on the BBC news website, which would have given them huge publicity.
I have not and will not purchase MW2, I don't feel like I have missed out on anything after playing COD 2 and MW 1.

@Sem: I totally agree. It kind of reminds me of the FIFA games.

I'm one of those few who's boycotting it too. I'm not delusional, I never expected it to work and bend Activision over. Just more of a personal little act of defiance, I'm not giving them any of my money for their attitude towards the PC market.

As for it being the biggest launch, it's a game that appeals to the masses and while it doesn't do anything new with some clever marketing you'd amazed how well you can do.

Not everyone was as good as you :)

Personally for a non clan player the games matchup and server setup works well for me, so whilst the hardcore will be disappointed with the hosting I like how it works

again that picture :/

yet none of those people playing the game have ever been in that group according to their profiles and histories...

IW.net sucks the amount of time it just stops for like 10 minutes with no notice?
Or it lags like hell because it chooses the wrong host? Or the host advantage?

So how long before we see people bridging and forcing yourself to become the host? Like back in the day of halo. etc.
