New F10 5-Series set to be revealed tonight...

the 535i has two turbos though. hence the smaller block and higher power output..... then again the 550i is also a twin turbo.... V8 :O Imagine that remapped :D:D:D cant beat Bimmers these days :D i love em, even this ol' mans saloon :D
The 535i has just the one turbo. :)

i really like the rear light clusters, looks very smart. doesn't look half bad in SE form either, which is nice

Just imagine what the M Sport will look like if this is what the SE looks like ;p

If the E60 LCi drops in price considerably because of the new 5 then I'd be perfectly happy with a nice E60 M Sport TBH.

Mid 2010 maybe?

that might be too early. it's launching in march 2010, so it could take quite a while for the E60 prices to come down.
although there will be a whole load of old stock to shift so you never know :p

either way, hold out for an LCI. i can't stress enough how crap the pre-LCI is

Funny, press release has it has Twin power turbo, exactly the same as the V8 (is the V8 single turbo too?)

Page 69 of the press release.

It says TwinPower turbo without explaining whether that is TwinScroll, TwinEntry or TwinTurbo. The same engine in the GT is the newer single turbo design.

Well calling it a "TwinPower" engine is confusing I'll give you that. It refers to the fact it has twin scroll technology I think (?) rather than twin turbos.

It does seem peculiar that they have a 523 as a 3.0. I guess having such a large capacity engine detuned to this amount will increase reliability?
Not so much reliability as ease of development and production.
The opportunity for a bargain then if all the components are the same as a 528.
The block and some other bits will be the same, but I suspect differences in the valvetrain etc. You could do it, but it'd probably be cheaper to pay £1.5k extra and just buy the 528 over a 523.

Swear i just saw a german plated one pulling away from SJ Berwins office on the north bank by southwark bridge.

Could have been an F01 7-Series (looked too small) but i really dont think it was, definitely wasnt a 5GT...

would have been a 7

It could have been, i dont think it was. Ive seen several F01 7's recently, and i really dont think this was one. How unlikely is it that there could be a few german plated F10's already around?

imo, very unlikely.

why would a law firm get to see it in the flesh before the motoring press?

Berwins office has nothing to do with it....it was just stopped outside with a driver in it reading something, then drove off southbound over the bridge. Really wish i had taken a picture to confirm. I will have to assume that it was an F01 even though i am sure it wasnt :(

i'd still be very sceptical of it being the F10 :p

if it wasn't a 7, then it was a GT, although if you saw it from behind or in profile you'd have seen the massive tailgate
