Amazing colour footage of WW2 combat.

Hmm am I the only one that thinks that most of the clips in that video do not look like WW2 footage? Not because it is in colour but the quality seems much too high for WW2 era for portable video cameras.

Some of those clips look more like Vietnam.

Maybe I am wrong but some of the clips looks way too clean.

I dunno!

Hard to say - my grandparents had footage shot in the early 50s of parts of europe that were quite clean and colorful.

Well thats the thing... many of the people who fought in WW2 were just like you and me... except today most people would run away cacking themselves as an over generalisation back then they got on and got it done.

Doubt they would but the UK would have a hell of time getting the people on benefits that was capable, its was a joint effort, everybody got stuck in, from fixing planes to making bombs, to making uniforms, it was all done on these shores, I would lolz at the benefit culture of this country in a world war, they cant even fight for their own life's let alone the Kingdoms.

Its so sad when you see them hit the floor or get one of their legs ripped off :(

I thought some of it looked like a pc game with the colours like they are.

Really is odd watching it in colour. Looking at it though, let's hope we won't be doing anything like what our grandfathers did.

Do you know what really hit me, seeing people fall down to their deaths like that in those videos.. in the age we live in, technology, virtual this and virtual that... would we really be willing and giving if world war 3 cropped up?

These people lived in simpler times when families meant everything, the country you lived in was worth fighting and dying for, life wasnt as easy as is it today.

So my real point is that if world war 3 was to happen people would be too scared, having not really appreciated what they have been given, living in an age when life is so much simpler and straightforward...video games... films...tv shows etc... would you really want to do all of these things you have "virtually" experienced, even if it was worth dying for?

I for one would really have to think about it.. after all the last world war was over 64 years ago, do you think people have moved on and realised that fighting massive global battles really gets you nowhere? And the weapons we have today would totally annihilate every nation on earth let alone put this tiny planet we live on in a uninhabitable state for many years to come, possibly only leaving life to exist in the up most remote places on earth?

thoughts and flames pls :D

Not to mention we can be chatting to the enemy on the internet as we're fighting them; a strange concept if you think about it. The world has changed.

"virtually" experienced

You have not experienced it, you would have to sign up if a world war started, simple as, everybody in the UK was doing something for the war effort, personally I would defend and fight for my beliefs.

This talk of uber tech, its means nothing, just look at Afghan, its only useful if you can see them

Its incredible to see it in colour, it really does add a sense of realism to it. It helps you understand the sheer horror of what happened at that time and appreciate what those generations actually did for the country we live in.

You grow up in school and see black and white movies and read about it in books, yet it never seems actually real. Its almost like it happened in another world that you cant comprehend, yet watching those men drop to their knees in a wounded blind daze while bullets are still aiming for them to kill them... its shocking.

I always get a lump in my throat when I think of those men that where on those boats at D-day, that served on those super dangerous missions and never had any family back home to pray for them. Yet they stepped out and done their part and no one will ever remember them on a personal level, the world will never know who they where, what they liked/disliked etc. Its such an awful shame that the human race is so barbaric... and even worse a shame that we never learned our lesson and still war today.

The part about most people running away and cacking themselves.
nearly everyone with money would try to get out of it or attempt to flee to another country.

the criminals would probably go into hiding and be on mass crime sprees like in ww2.

i dont really know who would really want to fight i doubt anyone would but the more honest folk would have no choice

Awesome footage in the true sense of the word (look it up if you're confused). I can never quite fathom the scale of WW2.
