Looking for any gamers, good designers and developers help me build a clan site.

I posted a thread about this long time ago but due to lack of support, laziness and other stuff nothing quite happened http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17934956.

Anyway I like to start the project again, currently playing counter strike source and warcraft 3, although these games are still fun, was so much better when playing them part of a clan.

I be using Joomla, mysql, javascript, css, xhtml jquery, flash, ajax and php. I mainly need a designer to build web mocks in photoshop as my level of design is look at a site and take what looks good lol........... but anyone who has any other skills or just even wants to be part of the community is welcome. I know the direction I like the site to go but all ideas are welcome.

This is purely for hobby and fun so no payment will be involved, obviously if the site can generate an income then all involved will get a share it also can have other benefits, old site actually helped me get a few contract jobs so could improve your already outstanding CV :D

Thanks

Hopefully I get a better response this time

Where the site be http://nmgn.co.uk/
Old site http://nmgn.co.uk/archive/oldnm/home.aspx.htm
Even older site http://ninjamaster.bizhat.com/nmclan.htm considering I hosted this on a few site many years ago am pretty impressed it still up

I didn't think 4 letter domains were rare :P I have one, I don't use it atm though.

And I agree with rob... If you're making a clan site the general way to go about it is to make it yourself or get someone who knows how to who is in the clan to do it. No one will have the motivation to help you as there is none for someone outside of you or anyone in the "clan".

My advice would be to just use a template.

You have an xxxx.co.uk domain name.

Oh yes, I originally wanted a 2 domain but that not available now, then 3 domain but that seemed impossible to get, so settled on 4 character domain.
I guess when I first made a clan site, so many people were interested and wanted to help, but obviously they were a part of the clan or people I knew, so probably wanted to help and support it anyway there could.

I guess asking for help maybe not the correct way to go about, especially in this section, where most of the guys who post here are probably professional designers and developers who have no time for such a thing or would want to get paid..................... Maybe I should post it in the pc games section and see the response, as primary the goal was for a fun way to get gamers together.

I would gladly do it myself but just don’t have the time like I used to, I honestly thought there be gamers out there who love to do such a thing, as it all about games really not doing it for self gain or profit but to increase the experience when online gaming.

What I meant is that most gamers would prefer to be playing games rather than building a website and creating a group of people who want to play games.

It's entirely possible that you'll be successful, it's just much harder to find people willing to help build a community because it's time consuming. I would think that most people who want to be in a gaming community are already in more established ones where there is less work to do and more time for gaming.

I've gone through the process of creating a clan with a group of real life friends although I did most of the work for MOHAA & COD4 (mainly COD4), set up the domain name, website & forums (only a basic PHP-Nuke one as have no real expertise in the area), buying and setting up of the servers (Just a 20man public and 12man private with a 50 slot vent) and other general things involved, we recruited anyone who wanted to be a part who we thought was mature enough (cant stand squeaky kids), we were pretty competitive minded although of course had fun on the public server but mostly when we were online we'd be searching for a war, anyone online at the time who wanted to could participate in the ladder wars although we did choose our more dedicated strongest lineup in the cups etc.

The 2 clans I've been in have been pretty successful and to be honest I do miss it, had a lot of laughs and fun out of it and quite liked the general running of the clan and of course the competitive matches, was so tense at times.

Was going to start another one with a friend for COD:MWII but obviously theirs no real competitive side to it, would love to be involved in another one.

Good luck.

I definitely neeed all the help i can get if you are interested. The original clan was multigaming but we specialised more in 2d games, although we had a halo and warcraft section, now trouble is trying to tackle all the different games out there, platforms, how to get people interested, members joining, keeping clan active, fun and competitive

If you are more interested in building a community, do it through gaming. Don't bog them down with developing a website.

Joomla, mysql, javascript, css, xhtml jquery, flash, ajax and php

You really don't need all that for a clan site, and it is a lot of work to go through when you don't even have a community. As a suggestion I would say start off with a very basic site that looks good and does the simple job of giving your community some info. There are plenty of free forums for you to use too such as phpBB or SMF and are very easy to set up and will allow communication and planning for matches etc.

Once you have established a community, then you can improve the site. It is hard to be passionate about improving your community when you have only just walked in through the door and hardly any community exists.

I do agree that bogging them with developing is not idea but i thought i post and see if anyone was interesting in this type of thing, as i got nothign to lose but all to gain if I just find one person.

I have built in total four clan sites starting from simple and getting more advanced each time.

I do have a community already who are intersting in me developing the site again, quite a few ex members and fans of the nm clan who would love to see it happen but dont have the experise or interest to help develop it.

The comments and feedback have been interesting and I know have a lot to consider if I deciede to continue the project.

Well, the fact you have a community already is great, but the same issue is still present - you're expecting a new member to help out with all the web development stuff.

I know there is no harm in asking but this is OcUK. You get more than you bargain for :p

From my experience, there is almost always someone in the clan that's wanting to learn how to make sites/wants to make a site for the clan.

And yeh.. this is OCuk. You're not really gonna find someone willing to make a site for free here :p We're all far too old

Dam couldn't Pull the wool over your eyes. Well I have started to design it myself so maybe I post some screens for you guys to review.......

and you need a website for this because?

Just to improve my web skills really, currently a Developer for itv but pretty much do the same thing though out the year, not much variety on the projects that you get.

Last thing I did was the GMTV I am a celebrity get me out of here game, not great but alright for my first commercial game found Here

Need to make a site anyway to keep my skills fresh, I thought might as well make another clan site , with the array of features helps me stay current, it quite fun also once the site up and running.
