Hi chaps,

I am only doing a bit of driving at the moment (around town etc) whilst my sister is planning on doing 70+ each day and has the need for larger boot space.

Now this isn't a permanent thing so I was wondering whats the best way to do this legally of course.

Add each other to our own insurance policies (if that is legit) or would we have to change the log books over, my only concern is this is more hassle and shows as an extra previous owner.

Any ideas?

No, you will have to swap logbooks over.

You will be commiting insurance fraud if you are going to swap the cars and drive them as named drivers if the veihicle is your main drive. (iirc)

It will be for 3 months or so I reckon.

ring the insurance co and ask them.

If its only a tempoary measure, i see no need to cancel policies and change logbooks.

Think about it. if you take a 12 month policy, and the policer holder drives the car for 9 months out of the 12, and the named driver for 3 months.

Is that person not still the main driver ?

Registered keeper isnt registered owner - and you dont need to be the registered keeper in order to have an insurance policy on a car, so just insure them properly. You cant drive the other car as a named driver, so have the car on your policy changed to hers and vice versa
