Just in your normal cars or whatever?

Looking at going to see a band in Cologne at the end of January. We could fly via easyjet, but I'm looking into getting a ferry from Dover to Calais then driving either side.

1 1/2 hours drive this side, 4 hours the other side. Doesn't sound too bad time wise to me, and by the time you've got 2 hours check in for flying it really isnt that much slower!

Would be seriously cool. :cool:
 
Did Melbourne to Cairns via Great Ocean Road, Adelaide, Hay Plains, Bathurst, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville this summer. Was awesome.
 
Done it a few times going over the Alps, was sharing the driving with my Dad in his car of the time, which was a top of the range Espace. Was a good car for the journey. Ski's on the roofrack, plenty of space for us both, with luggage :)

I drove to the south of France and back earlier this year, in a 20 year old Golf :p Was about 2000 miles in total.

Was good fun :)
 
Drove down to Monaco for the GP once, did a huge loop on the way to take in most of Europe, drove about 3K miles in total.

Last time I was in San Francisco Drove down the 101 for couple of days ;)

Me and mate decided to go to bournemouthe for a drive last weekend :) was a good laugh, stopped off at winch to see a girl i know on way back was a win win weekend (Y)
 
Not particularly epic, but four of us did a drive in three cars into Wales and around the Black Mountains etc and then camped in the middle overnight. The roads are awesome for driving - my brakes smelt like they were going to explode. Also good fun to camp over and get wasted by a stream with a big ass but poorly-built fire.
 
Done a few on the bike. Best one was probably last year, Harrogate to Omaha Beach via Flanders in Belgium, taking in lots of monuments along the way. Just went with a mate and did about 1600 miles over 4 days, stopping in cheap hotels that we just found at the end of each day.
 
I've did a few through Europe but the best so far has to be the Texas roadtrip in September.
We flew into Dallas, spent 2 nights there before making our way down to Austin via Waco. We spent a few nights in Austin (AWESOME city!) before heading for San Antonio. One night in San Antonio before a day of driving to Houston via La Grange (the one the ZZ Top song is about!) and Galveston. We planned to stay a night in Galveston but it was like a ghost town after the hurricane last year so we spent an extra night in Houston.
After 3 nights in Houston we made our way to New Orleans for the last couple of nights before dropping off the hire tank and flying back.

IMO it's the best way to travel. You see so much more, you get to interact with the local people more and you get a better "feel" for the place rather than hanging around the usual tourist spots and cities. I've never made as many friends on one trip in my life!
 
Not yet, haven't had the bora long, when I had the golf I honestly thought it was going to explode coming back from plymouth so didn't go further than that.
Planning on doing a trip to the south of france next year, a mates trying to get his stepmums place for a week there.
 
my mates doing the Mongol rally :(.. would love to do hat but 8weeks of work.

I also want to do the american west coast highway alaska to south America
 
Auckland (North Island, NZ) to Milford Sound (South Island, NZ) with a ferry in the middle and then back up to Christchurch. Followed by Cairns (Aus) to Melbourne via all the normal east coast spots, with a seperate trip down the Great Ocean Road as well.

Same here, did 2100 miles down to the Dordogne and then back up the coast in a 22 year old Golf GTI, really enjoyed it.

Cool! We got as far as Narbonne, spent quite a few days on the beach having bbqs and beers :D

Driving on those roads were so much fun.
