I speced out a PC for my friend earlier, and now am looking for a decent monitor for both PC and XBox gaming.

I have heard good things about both Dell and Samsung, but not sure which to go for. The budget is between £200 and £300. Would a HDMI input be good for a XBox?

I am looking for the same thing, 24 inch monitor for both Xbox gaming, Wii, PC gaming and general PC stuff (web surfing etc) but am confused over what screen resolution to go for.

I was looking at the Samsung T240HD because of the connectivity (it includes a scart socket for the Wii I think) and also because it has 1920x1200 resolution which is 16:10.

My PC graphics card supports that resolution but I see many alternatives are now 1920x 1080 which is 16:9. That would be ideal for the XBox but what about the PC? This does not seem to me to be a standard PC resolution and I don't want to screw up the use of the PC just for the xBox.

So it seems a bit of a dilemma. Get a T240HD for the PC but then the 16:9 of the XBox is not native or go the other way and get a 1080P monitor for the xBox and the PC faces a none native resolution.

Which is the best way to go?

Dave

PS XBox is an Elite.

Hello,

If it helps
Newer XBOX's all have an HDMI output
1920x1080 is fine for a PC

Not sure about which monitor is the best...

as ssmacc said, the newer Xbox's (all after 2007) have a HDMI out so all is not lost, but there is more criteria like do you have seperate speakers? are they analogue or digital? because if you dont have seperate speakers, you will need to get a monitor with built in speakers. If the speakers you have are analogue (ie no coaxial or optical input) then you wouldn't get full dolby digital surround sound. ps sorry if this sounds bad, i type quicker than i think lol

Which is better for PC gaming - 16:9 or 16:10?

I'm only a casual gamer, but i have two PC's one 16:9 and one 16:10, from mmy point of view it makes no difference, 16:9 is the resolution HDTV's tend to have (as 1080p 'fits' 1:1) 16:10 tends to be the resolution of 24"+ monitors (you get a small black bar on HDTV playback)

Hi all, new to the forum but been reading up on some interesting posts for monitors.

Could I ask what the difference is between the following monitors mentioned in this thead;

- Samsung SM2333HD
- SAMSUNG T240HD

Other than the size, they are both have Freeview and are HD 1080p monitors right? Which one is the newer model? which one would be the best to go for if I wanted an all-in-one.

Uses will be in order of;

- Computer monitor - browsing web, streaming videos, minor graphics & video editing here and there.

- Watching Movies - mainly DVD or DivX quality but may just be tempted to try Blu ray once in a while.

- Linking it up to PS3 and playing the usual games COD, GT, GTA, Pro Evo etc

- Would be nice to watch a little T.V now and again, Match of the Day, Top Gear etc.

Which model would be the best to go for and are there any others on the market I should consider.

Apologies for hijacking the post, but it is related to some monitors already mentioned in this thread.

Thanks in advance :)
