I've got all the components apart from the MOBO for a gaming HTPC build. The CPU I have is an e6700.
Here is the real question do I keep the CPU and get a 775 MOBO or sell it and go for an AM2+/AM3 and new CPU? I know the AM3 socket has a little more life left in it and I'm not worried about a loss on the e6700 as it was an okay price second hand anyway.
With the above in mind which MOBO do I go for?
-The MOBO needs to have optical spdif out.
-mATX is NOT necessary but not ruling it out if the features/price are right.
-on board GPU not necessary.
-Crossfire option would be nice but not essential.
-Low cost is quite important.
-Must take DDR2.
