Tyre Problem

Hi guys finished work at 10pm tonight and drove about 20 yards and the car was feeling odd like the handbrake was stuck on, I stop and try the handbrake but it wasnt sticking, drove another 20 yards to lock the gate and on the way back to the car my back wheel looked flat. :(

Both my Passenger Tyre caps were missing :mad: I then noticed how the valve inside the rear tyre was gone and I would be unable to put any air back in.

Is it new tyre time or can this sort of thing be fixed?
 
Shouldn't need a completely new valve, that inner bit is threaded, just need to get a replacement one of those, not sure where you can buy just that bit though but places like halfords might do it in the bike section, or just buy a cheapo schrader innertube and nick it from there,

There is a 'tool' designed to fit it, a (very) small pair of needle nosed pliers should do the job though I'd imagine.

EDIT:

Quick google, not sure I can link, but if you search for 'schrader valve kit' from halfords they do a kit with two of the inner vales for £1.99

Sounds like vandalism, no way would they unscrew themselves on not one, but two tyres! They can be removed and replaced using one very simple tool, I use them at work for other purposes. Just google for a "schrader valve removal tool".

What sort of **** would nick the the valve inner? Bloody unbelievable!

I had all my shiney metal hex valve covers nicked many years ago so maybe you could class them as things that might attract the ***** magpies but the actual valves!
 
i quite like that space saver, reminds me of a 2CV :o

you should get another one and put it on the rear for sideways lols
 
The space saver actually fits on the S2K? The EP3 space saver could only go on the back as it didn't clear the front aliper... useless!

At least it's only a valve stem and not costly damage. Should be a quick fix for a pro, but sad there's some petty people out there.

My MX5 is coming home tonight. I gaurantee the ariel will be snapped off within 4 hours as it doesn't go down at all. Good job I'm ordering a Mk3 stubby ariel to go in its place!

No, you want a new valve. Tyre off, remove old valve, clean hole and bead seats, pull new valve in, refit tyre, balance wheel.


Odd that they want to let your tyres down in a way you can't pump them up again, but don't want to damage the tyre?

Why couldn't they just screw in a new valve?
