decided on intel, need you to spec me a £700 system that includes a PSU that will run a 5970 (sorry i know nothing about psu's) don't include a graphics card as i will be using my 2600xt until feb/march then the 5970 will come from a seperate budget
5970 spec is 650 Watt or greater power supply one 75W 6-pin and one 150W 8-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (850 Watt with two 75W 6-pin and two 150W 8-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode
P:S ordered my HAF 932 it's coming monday :D (sorry uber excited about finally getting a new case)

i know i've done a few posts like this over the last week but my mind is set now that i'm sticking with the 2600xt for a couple/few months

Really by the time you have posted this with all the info it would have been easier to spec yourself ^^ . Is the machine for gaming I guess?

yeah for gaming i'll make do with my 2600xt until i get the 5970

i just can't spec systems very well kinda new to that i have issues selecting compatible stuff

You have just answered your own question, the money you save from the GPU buy a better PSU ready for the new gpu later in the year :P the 650 or maybe the 750 i have seen people recommend for the 5970. Double check this though.

ok just read the 5970 sucks 298 watts under full load and 42 watts idle and it takes 1x6 pin and 1x8pin just to power the thing.

btw that means nothing to me maybe i should have called this thread spec me a psu
