Tonight I got mugged for my phone (5800 Xpress), and it wasn't insured. I've called 3 and blocked the phone but anybody know where I go from here? Getting replacement etc?

Ta.

My Girlfriend recently had her Nokia E71 stolen, that was on the 3 network. The phone was also uninsured. 3 basically said they could offer another lower spec (e63 some sony flip phone) phone if she agreed to extend her contract by 6 months. They also charged her £5 for a new sim card.

Some household insurance policies also cover items being stolen away from the property such as mobiles, have you checked?

Managed to get the guys personal phone number. Going to now decide whether we take law into our own hands or leave it to the BiB, either way not going to just let it rest.

Unfortunately I'm not in the position to just throw another £200 at another phone :/

Check your home contents insurance. You'll probably need a crime number for a claim, so best get along to the police station.

My god how stupid can Police be.

They've just told me that they attempted to contact him on the phone number I provided, and when they asked him for his info he hung up the phone. As if he hasn't got rid of the phone now he knows it's been reported.

*Insert facepalm here*

As someone has said before phone up the network, they'll probably sell or give you a low spec phone (lets face it they'll want to keep your business). Or if you're out of contract just ask for an upgrade.

As for the Police thing, it's probably against the data protection act of the human rights act for them not to say who's calling.

But there are other, more logical ways for it to be handled. When we originally gave them the number the woman said "Unfortunately we can't get any info from a phone number."

Really, wtf.
