Steam, 50% off Arkham Asylum (plus a few others)

I do wonder what Steam would charge as a monthly fee to have access to all games across its site..... Strikes me as that is the next logical step, a monthly service like Lovefilm etc, (which many people forget to cancel or dont realise how little value they might be getting from them).

Just an idle thought as I continue to ponder whether to jump on the THQ pack.

It's a possibility but I would have thought with the number of publishers they have on board now it could be a tough sell. They will be wanting their royalties and a subscription model would make cost accounting a bit tougher.

That said I suppose it would open up the opportunity for tiered accounts, whereby if you want to play the latest releases then you pay a higher monthly premium - I think Metaboli do something similar but on a smaller scale. Personally I would have thought a Platinum account featuring the entire Steam backcatalogue needs to be priced around the £30/month mark, which sounds a lot compared to most subscription-based services, but if you think about it that's the equivalent of buying 20 games at £17.99 every year (although obviously you can't keep them forever - maybe have some kind of option to buy games at a reduced price if you terminate your subscription). That would represent good value for serious gamers who play a lot of the latest titles, obviously people who don't play so many titles or stick with older games would probably prefer a different model.

They really ought to get those games that are priced too high sold as part of this deal.

Things like - Resident Evil 5, James Bond: Quantum of Solace, Call of Duty 4 + 5, Wolfenstein, GTA:IV, Fallout 3, Call of Juarez, Bionic Commando, The Last Remnant, Silent Hill: Homecoming.

i.e. the ones no bugger will buy until they get to a fiver. :D

^ GTA IV is £9.99 on Direct 2 Drive at the moment, incidentally. (I see you can get it for that new in a shop anyway so not a special price particularly)

I think Steam and this 5 day dealfest are probably responsible for a lot of ISP's getting ****ed :p

*looks at my Steam games list* there must be at least 50gb i could dl and install.

Is it worth getting Dead Space at £7.50? I've heard mixed reviews of it starting out well and gradually getting tedious.

Hmm wonder what the next deal will be like. I'd buy Resident Evil 5 if that's even in the Steam catalogue. I've decided that seeing as I only have £260 until I get my January student loan I probably shouldn't buy any more games. :p

I really enjoyed Deadspace, I found it very atmospheric and entertaining right to the end. For £7.50 its a no-brainer!
