Favourite singleplayer levels of all time?

Trying to think of some other games, but all this talk of CoD made me have to mention the Pegasus Brigde day time mission. I can't link it since it's quite long and would take several videos.

All through the mission you defending the bridge from the germans and slowly u start to get pushed back and the odds really start to stack against u, the enemy are everywhere, all your fellow soldiers are dying all around you.
German armour starts to roll in over the other side of the bridge and this music kicks in.

Made for 1 hell of a final stand.

So many to list so i'll say the most recent 1 to blow my mind:

Left 4 Dead 2 - Hard Rain

1st time on that campaign my jaw hit the floor.

I have to say the Omaha Beach landing from Allied assault was probably one of the few singleplayer levels I've played that was so engrossing and atmospheric. COD2 has it's moments too.

Agree with Max Payne (1 and 2) both being pretty awesome throughout.

Another vote for the entirity of Hong Kong and Escape from UNATCO in Deus Ex :D

Wish i could think of a favourite level in System Shock 2...Probably Polito's office or the end tbh XD
"You are no longer welcome here, nuisance." - bad memories :(

Half Life 2 :Follow Freeman - Great street fighting and strider battles plus the assault of the overwatch device. Fantastic

COD1 The Pegasus Bridge Defense - One of the best last stand type of levels, first time I played it, it was a struggle till the end.

L4D2 Hard Rain - Nice setting and different concept from the other maps with the storm, witches and return trip supplies. Shame the finale is poor.

And cheating a bit but Vvardenfel (the island) from Morrowind thats a 'level' right? :p

I think the mission where you play as Captain Price in Call of Duty 4 is one of my all time faves. For me it was so atmospheric, especially the part where there are masses of enemies and you have to lay prone in the grass and wait for them to pass you. :)

Oh man i forgot about The Cradle in Thief 3... that place was epic. The backstory and the atmosphere, so damn creepy. 1 of those few places in the a game where you're glad to get the hell away from for reasons other than boredom.

CoD the Pegasus Bridge level, the AA gun got blown up so I was running round firing panzerfausts at all the tanks, it was a struggle
The sounds were excellent, I could almost feel the rounds pinging off the bridge through the 5.1, the music building towards the climax, awesome

Loved it

Surface Tension from HL1 - I loved it because it was outside and epic.

That too

off the top of my head, recently - hard rain on left for dead 2

and assault on control room on halo 1 on the xbox, that was pretty epic.

and all of deus ex.

Ravenholm from HL2. One of the most memorable levels IMO.

That said, most HL2 levels were very good, as were the COD4 ones (although I never completed the SP campaign >.> )

Many. Hard to pick a favourite.

VTM: Redemption. Society of Leopold

VTM: Bloodlines. The Hotel, Dr Grout, The Mansion, Death Mask studios, the latter for the scenery of all things: So seedy, so callous. This game pegs several horror sub genres so well: suspense, shock, gore...

Children of the Night II, a Morrowind mod. Hygina's interrogation is a very brief scene yet it brought me to a total halt while I questioned my own morals, even in a game, just how far would I go?

DA:O. Mage's Tower/ The Fade

FO3. Tranquillity Lane

Dreamfall: TLJ. New parts for Wonka, I'm a big old softy <chuckle>

Spellforce. The Rift, this was part of the demo and the reason I bought the game, an epic battle for a total novice.

Imperium Galactica II. The skirmish level King of The Ring

Almost the whole of Warzone 2100, much of Dark Reign and several parts, especially the limited unit levels, from some early C&C games.

Someone mentioned the original Unreal

The Facility on Goldeneye.:D

When I made the drop down the dam and dropped into the confined space of the toilet cubicle, then thought 'And this is just the start of the level'. I'd then made it:P

I thought the final thieves guild mission in Oblivion was quite good. Some great missions in Vice City too. Although I wouldn't say they where my best moments though. Most of my favorite parts of games come from JRPGs so its hard to say.

+1

Totally kick-arse level, I played it through several times because it was so cool! The snow level (forget the name) in MW2 where Price and Roach have to sneak about is also cool, but obviously not in 'All Ghillied Up' league.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Hard Rain

1st time on that campaign my jaw hit the floor.
Having only just played that, I would have to agree. The effects are stunning, and the whole atmosphere the level creates is very good.
