Favourite singleplayer levels of all time?

I really liked that level (mission) in GTA:SA which replicates (roughly) the chase from Terminator 2 where the truck is chasing you down the 'river' on the bike. More becuase i like the film but was a nice touch.

It's interesting the majority of these threads are for new games - ask the same person what his best moment is in a game in 6 months time and I bet it's completley different, i.e. a more newer game.

Anyway:

Dungeon Master: Worm Level - worms everywhere - great for food though!
Turrican 2: Level 2 - brilliant start, brilliant music and some great platform moments!
Double Dragon - End level, beat the boss then fight each other!

The Facility on Goldeneye.:D

When I made the drop down the dam and dropped into the confined space of the toilet cubicle, then thought 'And this is just the start of the level'. I'd then made it:P

I was reading through the thread wondering if anyone was going to mention this level, it's one of my faves as well, spent so much time trying to do that challenge to unlock invincible cheat!

I really liked the levels with the flood in Halo, I played them over and over again.

I'd forgotten about that one :) Stressed me out big time when I originally played it. I seem to remember there was a room about half way through, where you could close doors and think you were safe, but the room was actually a spawn point for the damn things, so you'd camp, and wake up in the dark with worms eating your face :D

MOHAA - Omaha beach landing
Unreal 1 - Opening level, first time ever seeing dynamic lighting, shadows, first ever mirror replections, smoke and then the massive outdoor expanse that was bigger than any game ever made
Blood - Fantastic level design all the way through the game. Train station, On the train (wrong side of the tracks?) Carnival...
Quake - 1st and 3rd episodes
Half life opposing force - Certain levels on that were very good

Sonic 2 - Chemical plant 1. Great soundtrack
Turrican 2. level 2

If this doesnt apply to pc then how about goldeneye on the N64. Fantastic game and every level had a quality feel to it, especially the entire Dam section including the labs at the bottom.

Yeah it was superb - I liked the:

"He is my prisoner - leave him alone" quote on the wall with a mummy on a pressure pad. You kill him and that starts the worms off - then it's just a matter of survival and running around like lunatics!

Great game!

medal of honour beat cod 2 with the beach was awesome but unreal 2 i think it was (might be 1) where you enter the corridor and the lights start going off is the best :eek and the monster comes::D

Just playing through Modern Warfare (original) again and Heat, the misson after All Ghillied Up is still the best damn level I've ever played in any COD game. When you're heading for LZ at the farm and you're told to go back to where you came from, having to run into smoke grenades, enemies crawling for every direct at you, and you have only 4min to do it. Listening to Gaz and Price yell in anger made the dilemma seem very real.
