As part of my 21st birthday present (which was yesterday - I'm suffering) I can have a two week holiday anywhere in the world. It'll most likely be summer 2010. However, I have no idea where I want to go!

I like fine food & fine wine.
Drinking & partying.
Extreme sports.
Large cities, but also have a desire for nature & the sense of seclusion.

Not one for lounging around on a beach all day or playing endless rounds of golf.

So, sell me your ideas! Budget isn't an issue. Unfortunately I've already been told I'm not getting a ticket on Mr. Bransons space shuttle.

New Zealand. Great food and wine, if you go down to Queenstown you have the extreme sports and partying covered. Big city? Head up to the north island for Auckland. I was there for a month not so long ago I love the place.

Tokyo/far east never really interested me for some reason. I struggle with non-latin scripts. I was in Moscow last year and the inability to decipher the words did have a negative effect on my enjoyment. It's a shame, but just the way it is.

I fancy getting out of Europe - Done the backpacking thing and travelled quite extensively. The only option in Europe would drive down the coast of France & then into Italy but that all depends if I can get on the insurance on my mums MR2...

New Zealand keeps popping into my head, how long does it take to fly there from Sydney? (Considering a week in each)...

Budget isn't an issue.
Well, it is because there's always places you can't afford :p

www.atlantis.com - Atlantis Bahamas. If you've got the money and don't mind paying £7 for an ice cream for example, it's absolutely freaking awesome. The yachts in the marina alone are amazing! You'll definitely feel poor ;)

Go diving, charter a boat and zoom around the islands of the Bahamas (or take a helicopter tour), then chill in the evening with some great restaurants (Mesa Grill, Nobu, Dune) :)

Only problem is that being the Bahamas it's smallish outside the hotel (which only has one club), so beyond that there's not a huge amount of partying available so I probably wouldn't recommend it fully. But then you say you like nature and all that so you should check it out at least. Same with Thailand, Australia, Canada, S America....

The extreme sport of it would be dodging the local population during the rush hour? :D

:D

Fine food and drink: Tokyo recently polled as the best city in the world according to number of restaurants with Michelin stars. I can also personally say that dining is fantastic in Tokyo

Drinking and partying: The Japanese love to party. And karaoke!

Extreme sports: You could apply to go on Ninja Warrior :p Seriously though, I'm sure there are extreme sports to be found

Large cities (+nature and seclusion): Tokyo is an amazing city, with different sights and sounds with every prefecture you visit. Huge beautiful and peaceful parks, some places can feel very isolated indeed, you might start to forget the size of the city you're in

Its quite a way away but I'd 2nd (or 3rd or whatever) New Zealand - tho not been myself - but everyone I know thats been there come back saying it was well worth visiting and how much they'd like to go back.
