dirt 2 benchmarks dx9 vs dx 11

wow, so with my 5850 I can expect a MINIMUM of 40 fps playing a game with tessalation improved lighting and filtering effects - and that's with AA!!. That's pretty awesome in my opinion. I worry more about the fact that 3gb of ram is reccomended where as I am still using my XP elitist set up with 2gb :(. It isn't something that has occured to me before as marketing benchmarks tend to focus on the GPU and CPU performance in games, nor is it something I have ever noticed as a "reccomended" amount in the specs. Fun times ahead.

Since you're running XP, its all a huge moot point since you're stuck with DX9. DX10 and 11 have, and will always be only for Vista, Win7 and future Windows OSs. So you're going to need a new OS to take advantage of the tessalation and lighting and all that.

XP scum :p

Hah chill out guys!! What my comment meant was that I am still running my pc with 2gb of ram, from the days when 2gb did everything on XP - I skipped vista thus more that this amount hasnt been a neccessity for basic operations and gaming on windows7! Since I made the switch less than a month ago - my GPU, motherboard and watercooling pump all died, so beefing out my memory had to fall down the list.

If your on XP, then you can only run it in Dx9, so you won't be getting the tesselation, or improved lighting etc....., so your minimums not 40.

In Dx9, 1280x1024 minimums 65fps, 1680x1050 minimums 61fps, and in 1920x1200, the minimums 54.

EDIT: Just seen your on Windows 7 now from the post above, so your right, minimum will be 40 if you run in Dx11.

Really need to give up the tommy tanking, its right what they say, it does make you go blind, now where'd i put me glasses :p

Ive already said that I'm NOT on XP, but still using the set up from when 2gb was ample FOR XP jeeez people!

But as to the original point I made, will there be much of a performance drop if I dont have the neccessary 3gb 'reccomended'? Only time will tell

Here you go. They don't look that amazing because they're downsized from 1920x1200 and the motion blur spoils the definition. All settings including AA absolutely maxed. DX11. Avg 30FPS on 5770 Crossfire and i7 @ 4ghz. Playable for an Xbox kid but not me so i'm going to work at getting better performance.

Anyone know what the patch files are for?
