Can you be login to steam on more then 1 PC at same time ??

It's a bit annoying this really.

I play FM10 on my laptop but want to download and install all my other Steam games on my PC but I can't because it will log me out of Steam on my laptop so I can not play FM10. :(

This is no different to buying Win7 and expecting to be able to use it on both your desktop and your laptop.

Anyway, why even invite a friend over if all they are going to do is sit in another room and play a completely different game?

i think the only way around this would be to create a different steam account for every (online) game you buy.

I thought of that...But that would just be a right pain...

Why there always got be a bad side to everything

now i have titan quest(not played it so it may suck :p...got it with the thq pack) getting installed on my laptop upstairs but i am unable to play left for dead 2 with my m8's in the meantime.

its not just a case of people wanting to pirate and share their accounts with m8's as some people seem to think.

Whats that got to do with two totally different paid for games..

It is relevant because the games are assigned to your account, which you own!

The games were only licensed for you to play. Doesn't matter if it is friend, brother or lover, if they wana play, they gotta pay.

And because it is digital they can enforce this better. Why doesn't your friend simply get a steam account and buy the game himself?

If I could simply login to a friends steam account and play all his games whenever I wanted I would never need to buy a game myself ever!

Be a bit of a waste for my friend to paid for a PC game just for a few hours play while his at my house...as he only owns a xbox360

Your talking about doing something very different to what i am talking about..

Have you never had a friend come around your house and you both mess around playing games for a few hours ??

I honestly don't get what is the complaint here...

There is absolutely no way in hell Valve would allow you to log into Steam simultaenously. Does that mean your account could be hacked and you wouldn't be aware of it? Are you sharing with friends, in complete violation of the ToS? Are you running it on 2 different computers you own? How can it possibly differentiate between this.

The complaints are a bit far-fetched. "Can i play on 1 computer while i install on another" No, but can you install a game on 1 computer while the disc is in the other computer? No you can't do that either.

Can you install on 1 computer and transfer said file across via LAN (or something) and simply validate it through Steam? Yes you can if you have the capability to do so.

Edit: Theres already been an answer to what you said above. Run steam in offline to prevent it from needing to check and you could run on LAN using the same account (so people are saying).

Yeah but usually we play something together, rather than seperate games on different machines :p

If it's just for messing around for a couple hours stick Steam in offline mode on one PC and then let him mess around in COD4 SP or something.

Yeah, this rule is annoying...that's what you get though if your games are an online account. Would be better if you could authorise a certain number of machines you own for concurrent play.

It's being an&l to an extreme really. When Bioshock was released, customers were asking how they could activate it on two machines so they could play on one machine and their brother could play on another. Take 2 helped these customers and didn't say screw you, only one person is licensed to play the game.

The spirit of these restrictions is to prevent piracy, not to prevent genuine customers having a bit of fun with mates without having to buy games multiple times. There's reasonableness and there's reasonableness.
