Do they plug it into your phone line when they 'install' it? If so why, what happens if you don't have a phone line?
Yes they do...to check that it works and do a signal test as far as the engineer who did mine a few mths ago. Said that if you keep it connected then theres a chance that Sky could charge you £60 or something along those lines.
The Sky boxes only ring back to Sky if you have Multiroom, to stop people having a cheap second sub and giving it to a mate..
You could have two HD setups, yes.
It's part of the setup I think, before the box will turn on , it has to dial Sky, part of the contract is that you have it connected to a phone line, but I don't think they enforce it like they do with Multiroom..
Bummer though when you want to order a Box Office movie![]()
Nope it's not if you haven't got a phone line when engineer calls / installs you get charged about 15 quid (so engineer can pair card) never had phone line to sky box or sky HD box
I really want sky+HD HOWEVER
As I live on a military camp all the rooms have been wired up to get sky+/HD YAH you think...well yes...but WHY OH WHY must I pay somebody £30 to bring the box to my room...PLUG IT IN....THEN LEAVE????
I can do this myself
Yay i got the new EPG today, finally! lol
We've ordered Sky+HD today, can't wait as we currently have a normal Sky digital box which is about 11 years old.
The engineer's coming on the 15th Dec to fit it, is there anything I should know for when he comes, anything at all as I have no idea about Sky+HD.
What's the deal with boxes, should I ask for a certain one?
Will he need to do any drilling work etc?
Thanks![]()
