Im introuble with an Ebay buyer

I sold a dead sat nav for a tenner (including mapping and other stuff) ,the bloke complained about scratches on the screen and i could tell he was a bit of a pratt(is it 2 t,s in pratt?) ,i just gave him a fiver back ,in effect making a loss on the deal but he was happy and i kept the 100% feedback and moved on

Ebay hardly lets you charge anything postage wise these days its an absolute joke, i sold some pc and xbox games and because you cant charge postage i barely made any money at all, the sites a waste of time in my opinion.

oh and someone recently left me my 1st ever negative out of thousands of transactions because a 2 quid pc game went missing in the post, i gave full refund and kept in touch but he left me a negative saying "never received, terrible".

So i have gone from 1300 feedbacks no negative with 100% positive down to 98.75 all because some idiot didnt get a 2 quid pc game that went missing during the postal strike. As a seller the buyers have you over a barrel because sellers cannot leave buyers a negative feedback under any circumstances, im done with the site for good i cant stand it.

Can you not just add the postage cost to the cost of the item and then sell it as Free P&P? Or would that be too sensible?

lesson learnt for next time, i started stuff at 99p hoping to get more interest but i literally got 1 bid on most items so after around 60p postage i was making about 10p after ebay fees etc. Wont be happening again ;)

Totally agree, the site is a joke.
With eBay and PayPal's extortionate fees for using their joke of a service, it just isn't worth the hassles that come with it. My butt never stops clenching until I finally receive positive feedback, half the time the ignorant gits don't even leave it. There should be a lower limit on the final value fees too, £15 MAX of your total, £50 is absolutely ludicrous imo.

Been scammed for 120 quid before now as well, before PayPal was made compulsory, eBay didn't give a crap, they deleted the listing and told all of us that were scammed to contact the police.

Needless to say I avoid it as much as possible now.

LOL! It makes absolutely no difference whether the kid he was supposedly bidding for was disabled or not. He can play video games but he can't use a computer?

:p

How can you miss the fact the postage needs to be added? 1st thing that my eyes drew to when I opened that page.

Hold your ground in my opinion.

Sold my iphone 3gs on there for £400 and ebay charged £40 in fees !! Never selling something that expensive on there again. Thieving barstewards.

Half the guys at work bid on each others items just to get the prices up and im sure its not just them doing it

£40? That can't be right can it?

It appears to be, even emailed customer service to have them check my balance and they didn't see a problem. :o

Edit: Luckily the first time my iphone was 'sold' it was to a time-waster which ebay then promptly charged the £40 FVF and I got that reversed; when I relisted and actually sold it the FVF was only £10. Only just discovered this so I'm not too angry now, it was definately no mistake though, I sold a few other low value items around that date and the FVF fee was roughly 10% like it was for the iphone at first.

Yep it's right. Ebay charge 10% of the final value your product sells at nowadays. Don't forget to add a listing fee and then a paypal fee too on top of that. It's an absolute disgrace how expensive they are now.

From their sellers fee page (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html):

£0.01 and above - 10.0% of the amount of the winning bid, up to a maximum Final Value Fee of £40.00

I was looking to sell something on there recently and decided against it after seeing the fees. Add to all the fees that fact that a buyer can just turn around in a few weeks time and do a credit card charge back and Paypal try to claim the money back off you and it's a no-win situation.

Ebay is OK for small items but I would never sell anything expensive on it. My mate recently sold his laptop on there and the guy claimed "It never arrived" and paypal put his account into negative figures then asked for money. Paypal treat sellers in a truly shocking way

Then your mate obviously didn't send it with a tracked service...so it's his own fault.
