Your biggest achievement in the last 10 years

So far I think FF has put a fair few of us to shame, well, me for sure :)

With the exception of I get around and mame :D

That wasn't my intention - 10 years is a long time, and I've done a lot in my life. I've been lucky to have been given opportunities, but also always taken the chance to actually rise to the challenge and say "yes" to new things.

A lot of my "achievements" are what some people do as part of their daily life - so it's not an achievement for them. However for me it very much was - all the things I've done are things that are out of the ordinary for my life - or at least what I think is out of the ordinary for my life.

Some of it was done owing to good fortune, fortitude, curiosity, but also because I went out of my way to achieve some of these things.

For example I don't own my own place. I'm not married - those are 2 big things that change your life completely. I've put different priorities in my life - lived the life and worried little about the consequences. I'm changing my outlook now and living a more "quiet" life as I touch on the 30s. However from 2000 to 2010 I went from being a 20yrd old to a 30yr old - a lot of opportunities present themselves in those times, with uni, and many social groups as well as different careers etc...

It's not for everyone, I know some people who got married very young and settled down to a regular life early on. That just wasn't for me - I've always been a little bit selfish from that point of view - clocked up lots of debt, made lots of mistakes with women, made lots of mistakes with friends and people I know/knew.. however I wouldn't change a thing - I don't live with regret, just lessons learnt. :)

Hmm that's a little bit over the top in terms of analysis! Back to work anyway!

Managing to leave the rat race, leave the country, start a business, raise a family, and own a house & car with no loans/mortgage at all at the age of 34

thats quite cool. I would live to live in the pyrenees at some point. What industry is your business in? Ex pats?

I guess I have achieved a few things like getting my mind back, my own home, keeping a relationship alive for seven years, pushing myself in the gym when motivation was at its lowest.

My daughter, best thing to happen to me this decade and the second best thing to happen to my in my life.

Going from having no idea where I was going at the age of 18 to £100k and a high profile job at the age of 24. That's not to say I have any idea where I'm going now, but at least I'm well off and clueless...

I'm proud of a few other things, I've consistently topped our league run table playing cricket which pleases me but it's just a game, it's not the same level of achievement.

EDIT: oh and writing a kick ass letter the other day which has netted us a new client that pays double the rate of our other clients :D

Best one here so far.

Tell us more. :)

I found an opportunity to distribute a fantastic product. Used a credit card to buy the first amount of stock and kept using the profits to buy more. I did it part time for a year and a half before committing full time. I basically just built the business with profits and some more borrowings to increase the stock holding and have added some more niche products along the way.

I don't really want to talk about the products here though.

We promise to not create a similar business, undercut and out advertise you and crush you out the market. :D

Hope you don't find offence FF, but I always thought you were older than what you're.

:p

Hey 3 decades is no spring chicken ;)

No one ever guesses my age correctly - I'm a bit of a misomner from that point of view, I have a very "young" outlook on life, but also a very large amount of life experience thusly a more mature understanding of the world as well which offset each other somewhat.

Being a 'competent' guitar player.
Passing my Driving test at 17
Having a huge DVD collection :D
Giving up WOW :o
Will soon hopefully have a 2:1 degree to add to that.

Having one of my portraits:

On display at the Getty Gallery in London and also printed in a national paper for a month last year after coming top 10 in a competition held by The Independent.

Ha, that's not even the reason to be honest. I just don't really want to be associated with my business on here as if everyone knew what I did it would affect my posts. I would need to be more mature and sensible. :D

Yea right, you've probably just made it up :p

That wasn't my intention

I know, I know! I wasn't being sarcy or insinuating you are better than us all or anything. Just a comment that you have done a lot from what you have listed compared to others and seem to be having a good time!

I'm not going to say anything further for fear of digging a hole for myself or anyone else but your list was good mate, well done :)
