Hopefully the small issues with that that they posted in that thread are sorted before my Hero arrives.. too wishful though I think
Mate I'm fairly sure you can wipe your apps etc, then just go back into Market -> Downloads and it'll show you what you've downloaded in the past. It's a bit of a pain setting it all up again but it's not like you've got to write them all down!
Install ASTRO File Manager and backup your apps (and other gubbins) to the SD card. Then you just need to install ASTRO again and restore the apps from the Hero's card.
Nice and easy.

I like my sense UI too much to want to upgrade to 2.1 Vanilla. HTC did a brilliant job with that.

Eh - come again? Sense UI is HTCs frontend and that is not released yet.
I've heard reports its a bit 'laggy' but then the first releas always will be

Laggy as hell, the majority of the standard apps aren't included (People being one of them) making it necessary to go off and grab some custom apps from the market.
I think I'll flash back to the latest Modaco ROM and wait for a better 2.1 release.
e: apparently all of the missing stuff will be included in an update tonight, but nothing said about the slowness yet

Odd i don't find it laggy at all if anything i can see its much faster and smoother, i like the look of the new market place much better, sadly though it does look just like the previous one with some changes i might even go non sense ui with this.
The eagerness and waiting for them to do this is now gone glad really now i can just wait for the none roise one as tbh i always use home switcher and disable it and use it like a normal android phone.
