Why doesn't he overclock? Surely spending this kind of money to get the 'best' equipment available, he would be interested in getting more out of it. I know I would, but then again I wouldn't dream of spending £4000 on a PC, at maximum half of that.

What does he intend to do with this PC? If it's for gaming, tell him to half his budget. He'll still get an awesome machine, maybe not the very best components, but still good enough to destroy pretty much any game thrown at it. That leaves him £2000 to spend on beer and woman ;)

Even the extreme performance computers on OCUK, costing less than £2000, you're looking at overclocked i7 cpu's and a 5970. You don't need much more than that.
 
If your friend has £4k to spend on a PC and has no clue about what he wants, suggest to him his money would be better spent on heroin and an Atari ST.
 
guys, the person that wants this was ready to buy a ready made pc from the company with the extra terrestrial as its logo. he told me he wants a "ferrari" like pc performance wise. he doesnt care about overclock as i said and he wants to play games on max settings.
he said 5k euros is his limit including a screen. as the screen i had in mind to propose is the dell u2410 the rest goes in the system.
also i am not trolling and i am not getting a commission :P
also the ready made systems from ocuk would be ideal if they had an option to add more ram/drives and to change the graphics cards and the case.

24" screen with 5000 euro budget???

I would go for 3x 30" in eyefinity with 2x 5970s lol

but it is massive overkill imo. With half that money you can get all you need to run all the games maxed out

the guy is asking for a 4k spec for a friend who doesnt overclock and aparantly doesnt know anything about computers. seriously what do you expect but i shall give a usefull comment and that is spend no more than 1.5k

Tell him to save himself throwing away that much money, buy a £1-1.5k PC and then get a really nice LED TV/stereo/camera/recliner sofa etc etc with the rest, he would quite honestly be a fool to spend that much on one PC

With £4k you could get a nice PC and turn your bedroom/home into an awesome place to slob out!

yes well im sure if he was serious wed have a bit more information that the nothing he gave such as what it would be used for what res it would be running at and so on
