£4000 build!

yes well im sure if he was serious wed have a bit more information that the nothing he gave such as what it would be used for what res it would be running at and so on
as i said u2410 is the screen
the budget left is 4k. it doesnt mean he cant spend les...
i said what he is doing with his pc.

one of these threads comes up every 2 or so weeks, The guy who has started this thread just wants some attention or something because a 4k machine just for "gaming at max" is just stupid.

to the OP, grow up and be serious.

+1 I don't know where all these muppets keep coming from.

I saw this as a bit of fun, stleast here is what i would do if i had been instructed to throw 4000 at a pc build, on pain of death or otherwise:

can you people realise that i am not joking? i am not here to showoff as this is not mine.
also to the people saying that i need to "grow up" or that i am doing it for fun... how ironic

dude, don't get sucked in to an argument, let the haters hate. some of us are posting to help you, pay attention to us and respond on what you think of our suggestions and how they suit the needs of you and your friend.

don't let yourself get distracted.

You know what, the PC is not the only thing that matters. Think about the whole setup.
I mean chair, desk, monitor, lighting, extras etc...
With that budget it would be well spent on making the computing area as comfortable as possible. Believe me the extras can cost a significant amount, and I suggest you help your freind to create the comfortable and productive computing area.
:)

Here's my attempt. With the change you can get a couple more Dell monitors for 3x24" eyefinity and a nice keyboard/mouse!

The SSDs are for RAID0 and the HDDs for RAID1, if needed.

for above, lots to play with and some if that is not in stock so alternatives need to be considered,

quad core i7 with 12 gig ram on x58 mobo

ati dual gpu graphics card

monitor included, if you friend is asking for advice on gaming bigger is better!, look at 27" rather than 24" or make the jump to 30 space permitting.

have included a raid controller to put the 2 intel ssd's on raid 0, very fast. the 2TB black editions should be run as raid 1 for safety of data.

blue ray reader/dvd writer

5.1 speakers, headphones, steering wheel and xbox controllers all optional.

of course lots more money can quickly be spent on home cinema sound so look in that forum if there really is spare $$$

good case and high efficiency modular psu.

ups to cover it all.

suppose windows 7 should be in there too, add 80 for that

Dan

If he doesn't want to overclock then I assume that he won't actually be building this machine?

In that case I would def go for one of Ocuk's pre-builts. I would suggest picking the most expensive NON WATERCOOLED unit, phone them up to fine tune the details and go from there.

Some peope have said not to go over 1.5k ish I am going to deviate from the norm.

I think the best non watercooled pre built on here is about 1.5k ish. Upgrade the memory, add the 2 best Intel SSD's in raid, the 2 2tb black editions in raid 1 as suggested above and you will easily be hitting at least 2.2k ish. Then take into consideration that to get the best when not overclocking the CPU and you could easily hit the 3k+ mark.

Then, like others have suggested, use the remaining money on a better screen, which you wil NEED to appreciate the high end GPUS. A nice desk, ambient lighting etc haha.

Getting an EE edition is nuts, even if you're scared of overclocking surely 2 minutes in the bios isn't worth £500! :D
