I'm starting to get slightly irritated at the government and decided to write down a list of things which should help to repair England.
These are only in the order I thought of them to sorry if its not logically layed out.
READ BOLD AND ITALICS TO SKIM READ
1. No free bus travel for kids - Right, this is just silly, this was introduced because kids are becoming lazy and so someone came up with the 'bright' idea that making buses free would encourage them to go out and exercise. STUPID! when it was introduced many kids got a bus 2-3 stops which usually they would walk, and just generally abused buses because it was free, no loss to them if they get kicked off.
Solution: Make kids pay 40p and adults 80p per ride, no extra charge if person doesn't have oyster, but people should be encouraged to get one with adverts around the bus
2. Immigrants commiting serious crime within 4yrs of coming to country they should be deported - This is NOT a racist comment, I have no problems with immigrants coming over, I do however have a problem when they rape, steal, rob etc. Its silly, they clearly have not come here with a view for a better life and living happily amongst others. Then what happens, they get put in prison - costing the government money AND filling up the prisons. People complain that criminals are getting let out of prison early - why do they think this happens.... its because they are full - the new criminals must go to prison pushing the older ones out with an unfinished sentence.
Solution: If an immigrant commits serious crime within 4yrs of coming to country they should be deported - this kills 2 birds with 1 stone for reasons explained above.
3. Keep the National speed limit at 60mph along with 30mph for small roads
I don't understand why they are doing this, the only thing I can think of is someone has some sort of road accident statistic target to meet and they have just got desperate and just dropped all speed limits.
Solution: Keep the National speed limit at 60mph along with 30mph for small roads
4. Motorway speed limit should be increased to 80mph and 70mph in wet
Modern cars as becoming much more refined and travelling at high speed is a comfortable and perfectly safe experience - technology has improved - it seems perfectly safe to therefore increase the speed limit to 80mph but equally it seems a fair to reduce it in wet because some drivers are to thick to drive according to conditions.
Solution: Motorway speed limit should be increased to 80mph and 70mph in wet
5. On a dual carriageway lorrys allowed in nearside lane only (unless there is a blockage in lane 1 etc.)
I am fed up with sitting behind a lorry which is trying to overtake another at what can't be more than 4mph, lets be honest, its stupid.
Solution: On a dual carriageway lorrys allowed in nearside lane only (unless there is a blockage in lane 1 etc.)
6. No average speed cameras
I fully understand average speed cameras, they do make sense - on paper. While driving I find myself constantly looking at my speed, which is dangerous - if someone were to hit the brakes and I was just a little bit close to them I would hit them and i'm sure its the same with other people. OK some people will be saying just drive 10mph under speed limit but speed creeps up, especially down hills and you sometimes don't notice. It would be better if everyone had clever cruise control, but plenty of people don't.
Solution: Sell all the old cameras on the bay, I'm sure some race tracks could make use of them
7. Unemployment benefits given out for 1yr at the most
I don't know much about this so I could be rambling on about something already done, but 1yr is enough time to find a job, so after 1yr, no more unemployment benefits.
Solution: Unemployment benefits given out for 1yr at the most
8. Free NHS needs to have some sort of limit
I have not thought this one through very well, I was thinking something along the lines of after 1yr of having a job it would cost moneys for NHS but this doesn't work out very well for mothers taking 10yrs off work to look after kids etc.
Solution: Your help needed!
9. Stop government car scrappage scheme
The idea is good, but the government is already pretty skint and all they are doing is helping Korea's car industry. I have no statistics to back this up but I reckon at least 60% of the brand new cars bought are Korean.
Solution: Stop government scrappage scheme ASAP
10. Routemaster buses in London
As I understand it, the old routemaster buses are being taken away from us because of health and safety and the fact that people can hop on and off with ease. I admit this could be slightly dodgy but with a bit of common sense they are no problem - therefore hundreds of buses have been replaced which is a waste of money, all they needed was an oyster thingymabob at the back and modifying to help the disabled.
Solution: Bring them back and sell the crappy bendy buses
11. Take off smoking warning stickers
I am not a smoker, never have been, but I don't see why people who do choose to smoke should have to put up with massive stickers saying they will die. The government must remember the money they are getting from this.
Solution: Take off smoking warning stickers but people still shouldn't be allowed to smoke in public buildings.
12. More war monuments
Our guys out there are fighting for our country, (many of which probably didn't want to go to war against Iraq), are treated like **** when they get home, they are friking heroes guys! I saw some thing where kids were mocking this guy who had his arm blown off(was posted on here a while ago), that is just disgusting as far as I'm concerned.
Solution: Treat war heroes with respect, look after them etc.
13. Proper cycle lanes
This is tricky, I know, but I would be much more inclined to ride to work if I didn't have to ride on the road, cycle lanes on paths would be ideal.
Solution: New Roads being made should have 'proper' cycle lanes
14. Stop putting pressure on students to go uni!
I have recently gone through sixth form and I found myself in overwhelming pressure to go to uni. This is wrong to me, I should not be under this pressure, I have been told that I will for sure get a higher paid job if I have a degree. I was on the brink of going to uni but a nice little ICT job popped up which I took, and I'm hoping to prove these people wrong
Solution: Apply pressure on students to get a job OR go to uni and not just hang around on streets
15. Kids should stay at school until 16
This has been raised to 18, honestly, what were they thinking, in those 2yrs people who didn't want to do A-Levels are going to make it hell for those who did, it is an utterly ridiculous idea which needs to be taken away and forgotten immediately.
Solution: Put things back how they were, kids can leave school at 16
16. Bring back SATS
These were taken away because kids were being put under pressure to revise and it was thought to be too young. They are indeed correct it is to young - So why on earth are they putting pressure onto these kids to revise - I'm guessing its to meet some targets someone has set - Common sense failure as far as I'm concerned. SATS are a great way to access how clever the kid and they are important.
Solution: Bring back SATS
17. Euthanasia legal
I saw an awful thing on the news a couple of days ago, a man out of pure love and care for his wife killed her to prevent her from suffering from an illness, but he then had to kill himself. This is wrong, with a careful euthanasia law i.e. a law that cant be abused by people, this kind of thing can end.
Solution: Make euthanasia legal (carefully)
18. Stop cutting random trees down!
This could be me, but 3months ago the council came and cut down the nice trees down our road, healthy and ill ones, whats the point? anyone else had this? Irritating because its ruined the look of my road, and also because I like to think that the tree was countering the pollution my car was causing, weird I know, but there is some truth in that.
Solution: Think before cutting down random trees!
19. EDIT: Taken out
20. Pension scheme reviewed
This was a great idea which worked great, but people are living too long which is just draining money out of the government. Anyone got any bright ideas on this?
Solution: Help needed
Ok thanks for looking through this, apologies for my poor english skills.
Basically what I want to know is, have I completely lost the plot or are these reasonable ideas which I should perhaps pass onto Mr Brown in the hope that he will read them and have a think.
