As title says really, how much difference is in quality is there (noticeable) between these two resolutions. Ive heard great things about the 2209WA but isn't 22" for a 1680x1050 kinda of large for the kind of monitor? Surely the larger dot pitch would make a considerably noticeable difference between a 22" 1680x1050 and a 1920x1080. I just want the very good image quality and i really don't want to miss out if it's really noticeable. Am i better of just getting a 24" TN? Or will i really not see that much of a difference between that and the e-IPS Dell. Has anyone here seen the difference between 1680x1050 and 1080P panel? How do they compare?

Cheers

P.S. if you have seen me say i have the 2209WA monitor before in previous posts it's because my brother actually has one of these, we both share this account. So it would be him.

1. Look at your brothers 2209WA.
2. Go somewhere where you'll be able to look at a 1920*1080 monitor in action
3. Compare
4. Decide
5. Get your own account

Can't really do that as he lives a few miles away from me. Also i can't help but feel that whole post was a bit bitter.
Get your own account
Sorry but you're not a mod, as far as i'm aware 2 people sharing one account is not against the rules at all.

I have 22'' at 1050 and it looks great. At the time a higher res would have put too much strain on my GPU (8800GT) but they have moved on. The disappointment at the moment is i cant play blue ray at top res because I am 30 pixels short.....Bah.

depends how far you sit from it...1680 close-up seems perfectly fine to me.
saying that i have a 46" @1920 but that i only view from a distance....tbh though even close it really doesnt look bad and i would love it for my main monitor but then we wouldnt have a t.v :p

because before my brother got his own house we lived in the same house and instead of creating another account (which i dont think is allowed on the same IP address) and email (he doesnt use email) we thought it would be simpler to just share this account to buy our goods. Thankfully he doesnt really use the forums much, just does it to buy stuff. Also im not a **** ;) Obviously if i was using the MM i would tell my brother not to communicate with the buyer or whatever as i am doing a deal or something, i don't use it anyway and probably won't.

Hope that answered your question lol.

it's very noticable if you want to watch 1080p files, as usually these cover the 1900 pixels, so you'll have to shrink them on the smaller one, but otherwise; not too noticable

For normal display:
1680x1050 has larger font and lesser clarity than 1920x1080. HD is crisper and sharp.

For Movies:
For SD movies, there is absolutely no difference between the two, however for full HD movies, the difference is pretty much. In HD, due to the dense pixels, the picture looks more sharper and grainy at HD resolution. Also, since the monitor displays these HD movies at the native resolution, there is no scaling needed.

For Gaming:
HD gaming needs a very good card i.e atleast 4870 to run at max settings. The quality of the picture doesn't differ much, however for some games like crysis, you can see difference in textures when playing at 1680x1050 and at HD.

So, at the end, if you are into HD, go for a HD screen, else a 1680 will also be good enuf.

For the e-IPS panel, the major difference would be visual angle. If you are gonna watch movies with friends and family, go for e-IPS, else go for the Dell WA.
